for some reason my magnasave stopped working..do the magnets go bad?what do i check first...
thanx Brian

Check your voltage to the magnet. Also, how does it work? I can't remember. Is it a switch that triggers the magnasave, or a button you push? Make sure that whatever triggers the magnasave is working properly.

its a button that triggers it.the wires run to another solenoid and its working fine, but there is a diode between the two..its weird because both sides stopped at the same time..is there a maunal on changing game settings. i'm thinking i may have changed the magnasave on accident, but not sure...

I would start by checking continuity through the magnet coil. The second thing I would check are the grounds that connect from the main cabinet to backbox. I spent a few hours troubleshooting a magnasave problem that turned out to be a simple ground wire not connected from the main cabinet to backbox.

The buttons on the cabinet is in the switch matrix. When they are pressed the MPU senses the switch closure and energizes a relay that powers the magnet coil. That's basically how the circuit works.

Magnasave can be a real pain. I've had to fix it on more games than I care to remember. The first step is knowing how the thing actually works... and realizing that those grounds need to have good connection from the main cabinet to backbox.

You should ask these kinds of questions in the pinball forum. I rarely check this forum.

This manual should have the adjustments. I'm not sure if you can disable the magnasaves but it's worth looking at:

i check the solenoids that activate the magnasave and they work fine.i traced the wires and check the fuses. it all looks good.i will check the grounds next..
thanx for your help

thanx lindsey!!! you were correct, the ground that runs to the back of the cab(red and white wire on mine) came loose. i found out the right one is just bad(broken wire on magnet) but atleast the left side works again
