Before shopping it out...wear in the kickback and lock areas, wear on the Magna Save, broken/yellowed plastics, old rubber, chewed up bumper skirts, broken lane guides etc:

I didn't get a good before pic, but it was worn to the wood in the Ball Lock. I touched up the orange path and mylared for protection:

Here I painted the red area where the ball had worn a wood path. I also painted the two "A"'s worn off in "LAST CHANCE". I didn't trust myself to paint all the letters in "KICKBACK" so I put a decal there. Mylared over the area to protect it:

I still have a few more things I need to do. I didn't replace all the plastics yet, as I ran out of rivets - and there are a lot of riveted plastics....and the right flipper needs to be tweaked a bit more...but overall it's fast and playable!

Some more pics:

I was too lazy to paint the Magna Save wear so I bought a decal...unfortunately the decal's color and art was totally off...but - I cut the target part out of the middle and just used that. That's all I needed anyway:

New target decals...also a Cliffy color post sleeve (I used 3 total):

The new plastic set came w/ this rad topper:

Looks nice! One of my favorites. So many great Williams games from that era. I can't wait until I have some time to get back into pins. Really been missing them lately.

Very nice before and after pic's. How did you do the touch-up with air-brush? Novus #2 used at all? Great job, as my pin has these same areas where your was like the drop ball area and kick-out area and around some inserts to the wood. How do you did yours? I have to build up some area where it's down to wood, what should I use? Thanks

Well I left the factory mylar on...that has done a good job of protecting most of the inserts. I was thinking about removing it, but after doing it on a test spot, it started to take off the insert art. So - I repainted those areas (WIN near the top), remylared, and left the rest alone.

As for the touch ups, I just used Testors. Red is EXACT...didn't have to mix at all. I had to mix a bit to get the orange right. I wasn't as meticulous as on my GnR, but I sanded it a bit after painting to even it out, then "polished" it w/ Novus 2. Novus 2 will take off a little paint, but not enough to ruin it...but that's why I mylared over the paint jobs. The rest of the PF is mylared, so - why not just get the rest of it.

Awesome job! The topper makes me jealous - where did you find that? I just picked up a BK2K last week and set it up last night. It was clean and playable so I gave it a quick wipe-down and replaced the pinballs with new ones. The mylar is bubbled over a few inserts but after some research I will leave it until it really needs to be replaced from being worn out and I don't see that happening during my lifetime. It has wear similar to yours (what a coincidence). It was re-rubbered with all black rings and the legs were sprayed black. I prefer the white rings and chrome legs. I'll shop it out at some point but want to play it for awhile and watch others play it to find and make a list of all of the issues it has and tweaks it needs. Where did you source the drop target, insert, and magna-save decals?

Thanks,

Bill

Hey Bill - the topper comes w/ the repro plastic set. I think I got that from Bay Area Amusements. It's a bit expensive, and I really didn't NEED to replace all the plastics (I just needed the slings and like 3 others) ...but, I got my game so cheap I felt it was worth it. I got the target decals and magna-save decal from Little Shop of Games....and the insert decals from Jeff at Classic Arcades. He was cool about just sending me the ones I needed as I didn't want the whole set.
