Hello all,

I'm not normally one to work on Gottlieb games so bare with me on this one. A buddy of mine has a black Hole pinball where the trough kicker sometimes is strong enough to kick the ball over, and sometimes it doesn't make it all the way over and confuses game play. Mechanism moves smoothly and freely. Replaced diode, replaced coil, replaced coil sleeve. Issue still persists and this is the first gottlieb I've had my head in, any suggestions?

Transistor Q5 under the playfield drives the coil. However, don't forget to also check transistor Q15 up on the driver board. Q15 turns on Q5.

Be sure to also check the under-the-playfield fuse for that coil. Sometimes the fuse itself starts going flaky after all these years. Check the fuseholder clips too for signs of tarnishing and/or weakness (metal fatigue).

So I may have the stated the wrong coil in here when describing it. Turned out it was a failing Q59 on the driver board. Replaced with TIP102 as equivalent and is now working good. Thanks all!
