I've got a Black Hole that I think might have a bad ROM. It is booting up, but with a switch 26 error. According to the manual, switch 26 is the playfield tilt switch. I've already done the slam switch mod to the CPU board. With the switch connectors unplugged from the CPU board....I still get the error. So, I assume the problem is on the CPU board. All the TTL chips between the switch connectors and the switch matrix RIOT chip look good with a logic probe. I replaced the 6532 RIOT, but the error remained. I finally stuck the CPU board in a friends James Bond pinball, and it was fine.....no errors. At this point, I'm outta ideas except for the ROM chip. I do not have a known good file to compare with the questionable ROM.

Any ideas or help, thanks!

No need to have a good ROM file just to determine if yours are good.

Read them and submit the files to Hamster's online romident:

I just tried every BH ROM file, and it identified them all just fine...

[The PinMAME data has been incorporated into the MAME codebase for a while now... including ROM checksums, so that's why this works.]
