Black Hole Pinball

I'd grab it Phet, that's a good price. I've been looking for one locally myself as I just love the look of the game. If you grab it and later decide you don't care for it, I've got a nice Timber or Tapper I can use as trade bait...

You guys gonna get me in sooooo much trubble with this kinda talk.

That was my favorite pin at CAX... and it was a lot of fun! If you can swing it financially it would be a great addition to your collection.

I have one. I spent a long time restoring it(mods and touched-up/clearcoated playfield)- I post some pictures later. It's a fun game and I probably play it as often as my other pins (maybe a little less than RS, but more than SOF).
When I do play it, it has a lot replay value, it seems. I never seem to play less than 10 games once I've played one.

As for the mods, don't be surprised if SOME have already been done it. It is working, so they are either done already, or it's just in great shape. The most basic (and most necessary) mods don't take much time to do, it's basically just getting the ground wiring all linked together and replacing a couple big caps in the bottom of the cab.

I bought mine, non-working, untested, in 2003ish for $300. I took it home and foolishly turned it on only to see smoke pour out from the playfield. I did all the mods, and fixed the driver board and got the thing working. Still, slowly over time, I've gone and bought a lot of the new modern circuit boards for it. It now has the new CPU, driver board, and PS board. If it breaks anytime in the next 50 years, I'll be surprised :)

If you're planning on actually playing the game you've got a surprise in your future ;)

I'm OK with it if it's little stuff like replacing coils. I just hope I don't ever have to do any more circuit board work or modifications to it to keep it going smoothly. You're right, though, any well played pinball is going to go through its fair share of problems.

Of course, half the fun is fixing them....that's why I'm always on the lookout for a Haunted House to go next to it. :)

I was fortunate enough to pick one up in a trade deal, otherwise I figured it out of my league for a nice one... $700 is a good price if it plays all the way and is pretty clean overall. Its a keeper for me, its got playability and long term fun. Its got great artwork, colors, theme, playfield(s), sounds, and feels ahead of its time when you're playing it! The robotic voice is totally 80's and the spinning vortex and rotating infinity lights in the backglass are like non-other!

GET TEH BLACKHOLE PHET...
