Hello all,

In looking at some pictures the other day, I came across a picture of someones collection that happened to have a Black Hole pinball with a topper on it.

It says: A new experience in space, play Black Hole.

Has anyone ever seen one and have they been reproduced? Wish I had a picture of it, but I can't find the thread I saw the picture on! I'd like to find one if possible.

Thanks!
Tom

I've seen one on eBay a few years ago and was outbid on it. I think it was over $100 at the time. It could easily be reproduced if there was a solid scan or pic of it with dimensions. I'd love to pic one up some day.

I saw one on ebay the other day.. cant find it now. Musta sold.

I'd be up for a repro. There are plenty of blackholes out there.

What is it made from? How is it attached/supported? Anyone wanna
sell me one so I can scan it?

It WAS reproduced. I bought this one off the seller on RGP. Seems like it was around $30. You might post on the RGP newsgroup and see if it is still available.

I never installed it. I sold the pin before I ever got around to it. A small L bracket on each end would have worked well. Pinball Life also sells topper brackets made for new Sterns but they would work also.

Cool.. how is it attached to the top? Some sort of metal frame?

Meh.

Glad I didn't get in on that repro... The font looks rather different (not as bold) from the original, and the "BLACK HOLE" stencil/outline looks too thin as well. Perhaps the blue BG text is too light as well.... Overall, the white text doesn't really stand out above the black/blue background, which makes it harder to read.

Here they are side by side, scaled down the repro to more or less match the original from the pic posted earlier...

When I find an original to buy/scan I'll repro them.

Your're right those repros look odd.. Its like they never saw a picture
of an original one.

I have already created the "BLACK HOLE" text, in the stencil/outline style used in the original art, in a vector format (AutoCAD)... attached is a raster rendition of it.

I did a quick look around, and I couldn't find a font that matched the text on the top of the topper... The squarish "S" and "C" are pretty distinctive, and not very common.
