The unit powers on and able to set heater voltage, but the G1 and G2 voltage settings are unresponsive (Needle moves, but not past zero).

Does anyone have an idea on what to check first?

Are you connected to a tube? You must be connected to a tube with the proper adaptor in order to complete those circuits and ge the needle to move.

Is it unresponsive on all three colors? If so, check the return path on the adaptor which is pin 1 (neck socket) to pin 12 (Molex) for continuity. Also, make sure the neck socket female connectors are tight enough to firmy touch the neck pins. If they are stretched out they may not make a connection.

Yes, all three (when trying to set G2 cutoff). Nada.

Thanks for the tips, I'll check that out.

[edit] Another thing, the power on bulb doesn't light up even though there's power. I thought maybe the bulb just burned out.

Yes, just got it. Sold as working, but of course they probably just turned it on and called it a day.

About the adapter, Continuity checked out good between neck pin 1 and conn p12.

This model is well known for numerous bad solder joints on the main board, particularly at the connector header pins.

Try flipping the switch on the upper left corner labeled "Low/High G1" or whatever it says. Sometimes you have to do that to get a reading until after you've rejuved the tube...

Ken what do you suggest? Pulling the thing apart and checking all of the solder joints?
I have never opened mine up, but it has to be due for some type of service.

I just had a tube the other day that wouldn't adjust up to ADD ONE DIVISION until after I hit it on the CLEAN AND BALANCE, and REJUVE several times.

Monitor looked awesome afterwards.

update..

Opened it up and found one of the two large headers wasn't even connected. Reconnected and now G1 volts setting was responsive/working. However G2 cutoff and Test modes were still completely dead.

Restore/Rejuvenate mode works.

Reflowed every solder joint on the PCB. No change.

Replaced most of the electrolytic capacitors. No change. G2 and Test modes still dead.

I'm thinking the next thing to check would be the main function knob solder joints, but I really don't want to mess with it (going to be a PITA getting access to it and putting everything back together). ugh

Have you tried a different tube. Like stated above, I also had one that I had to rejuve a few times before I could set these settings. I recently bought one as "working" as well. I replaced all the capacitors and had to change out a few bad diodes. Works great now.
