Birthday Sale on 96 in 1 Multi Pac's!!!!!

What's a field conversion kit board?

It is the board B/M sold for converting a MS Pacman to Jr. Pacman. It has the same pinout as MS Pacman/Pacman but it is Jr. Pacman instead. They come up on ebay as Jr pacman sometimes. I guess the dedicated JR pacman board is different? I honestly have only had Field Test boards so I do not know about the original JR pac boards.

That's "Field Conversion Kit"

Basically the game came two ways:

1) In a Mappy-style cab with the huge marquee, where the board was a DC (+5VDC/+12VDC) based board expecting rectified power at the board, much like Galaga and Mappy and all subsequent games.

2) As a conversion: In order to convert all the existing Pac-Man and Ms.Pac-Man cabs, the upgrade board added components that allowed it to accept AC power (+7VAC/+14VAC) and rectified it on board just like the previous games so it was a drop-in replacement. Therefore it was called "Field Conversion Kit" and is printed as such in silkscreen on the board. From my experience it's 10+ times more common to find these than it is to find the DC version.

I completely understand why Jr. Pac isn't on Mike's board, but I sure wish it was. That's been the only thing keeping me from buying one of his kits.

Mike's kits are the best even without JR. Jr had a much larger screen buffer and scrolling logic so you just can't get that functionality out of a Pac board. Mike's kit just is basically a rom paging board to load the correct flavor of program and graphics in like all other boards. However, a lot of work was done to support Pengo and some of the other games on the hardware as well as support high score saves with name entry as well. This is what makes it so much better than Clay's or 2Bit's kits that are nothing more than rom swappers.

I have one of these and I promise you will not be disapointed. This is one board I will never part with. If you have the money and a cab to put it in I say buy one as fast as you can before they are all gone.

I just looked at the Game list. Cant wait to get this board hooked up, looks awesome!! I noticed it has a high score saver. How many scores will it save? Top 3?

It's like 15 or 20 from my recollection....

...but be fore-warned... the FAST and NORMAL speed games use the same list... as do the maze variants for each specific game (Ms. Pac, Pac, Pac Plus)...

Thanks for all the emails and PM's! This little promotion turned out better than expected, and I've run out of nvRAM.

Instead of ending it early, I'll let it run as planned to midnight CST and ship new orders on Tuesday when my shipment of nvRAM comes in.

A couple of things- re: code and high scores, with the Exidy PCBs we included a tiny layout for a Fe RAM adaptor, to test the new Ferro RAM for the 96 in 1. With the extra space in memory, we can separate HIGH SCORE TABLES FOR ALL GAMES FAST AND SLOW.

The adaptor means old kits can be updated to run the latest code, so they're never obsolete. New layouts will be for Fe RAM once it's done testing.

We'll also release a new code update to compliment the Fe RAM and point things the right way. This should all take place right after I wind up the Exidy Collex'n orders.

As always- code updates are free via email, or at cost, the same with the Fe RAM adaptor since I believe post-sale support is the key to keeping everyone happy!

Thats Awesome!!!

Got the 96-in-1 today. It seems easy enough to install.

However, I'm now getting horizontal lines through the screen everywhere as seen in the attached photo. What may be going on? This wasn't happening before.

Otherwise, all the games load, the graphics load, etc.

The 284 & 285 daughter boards are the mini jrok ones (like this http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=PAC284).

Check all the pins on the 5E adaptor board and the ribbon cable, also check the pins on the VRAM and Syncbus boards.

It looks like something is out of circuit.

Got my multipac & installed last week. Just wanted to say GREAT JOB! Lightning fast shipping. Thanks & belated Happy Birthday Mike!
