I recently picked up a nice batch of uprights for a good price. The guy I bought them from said the Birdie King 3 should work fine with a replacement PCB. I picked up a tested and working PCB from a board member, plugged it in, and all I get is a plain green screen and a repeating popping sound. If I swap it with the old PCB, I get a screen with gobbledygook and the same repeating popping sound. Any advice would be most appreciated, given that I'm a complete newbie.

Thanks,

Take a voltmeter and measure the outputs of the power supply... There are 2 to 4 outputs depending on the supply:

+12v
+5v
-5v (Not always there, but can be)
-12v (pretty rare to see this one)

There are exceptions to that and there are other games with even odder voltage outputs (Q-Bert anyone?) but this will get you started. If the +5 and +12 aren't working properly then you'll need to replace the supply.

Will do. And thanks for the advice. One more Q.....can I swap a power supply (say, from a Pole Position upright) if the outputs match?

Yep, looks like the power supply has crapped out. Are they specific to each game, or would I be able to swap? Thanks in advance for any advice.
