Today I spoke to Jon Younger over at http://www.qpsemi.com, and he told me that they are in the process of Resurrecting a lot of the old-school IC Chips.

He told me that the Bi-Polar PROM's should be available within 6-12 Months.
He doesn't know what the price will be for them as of yet, but I can't wait to find out!

They are also Resurrecting a lot of the old EPROMs and other hard to find chips.

I just wanted to share my findings with everyone!

Very interesting. Seeing their main targets are the military and medical worlds I don't expect them to be very cheap though :)

However, as my uncle always says, better expensive than not available.... :p

That would be cool!

You'd be shocked at some of the customers who have bought EPROMs from me. ;)

I'll be very interested to follow this...

But as other have mentioned, I don't expect these will be cheap

They're too expensive. They need to be mass produced to bring the price down.

No one's going to go to the trouble of doing a run of ASIC semi's with the design, setup and fab costs to run chips for $10 each. You'd end up having to sell a volume that people would never buy.

I agree, totally! I re-run of customs would NEVER be under the $20-$25 mark. If Namco was to run more.....I'd be shocked if they were under $75 a chip.

Namco wouldn't touch a project like that. Not in a million years.

Antique arcade machine collectors have always and will continue to take it apon themselves to have out of production parts re-pop'd.
