Are you serious? They completely fabricated the whole thing. They didn't exaggerate. Steve Wiebe was the world champion, not Billy. Billy didn't insult Steve, he stopped and talked to him. Billy didn't not go in the restaurant because Steve was there, he went in and bought him dinner! Billy wasn't afraid to play him, he later beat his score, AND beat the world score on Donkey Kong Jr. on the same day.

Nothing in the movie is true at all, I'm not going to call a truce on a bunch of bullshit.

At the end of the day, though, if you choose to just believe something negative about somebody you've never met, have at it. Personally, I'm more inclined to think Billy's a good guy, Steve's a good guy, You're a good guy, I'm a good guy, whatever. Be positive, stop spreading around shit saying people are "Douche Bags" what kind of childish shit is that? He's not a douche bag, he's the greatest arcade champ of all time, we should be proud of guys like that on a site like this.

Did you miss the part in the movie where he gave the woman a Qbert machine? Have you missed all the good things Steve has had to say about him over the years?

I'm not going to admit he's a douche bag, he's fucking awesome.

BTW, the reason he wears american ties? Because a couple years before the show was filmed, some dude kept showing up at conventions with a cape calling himself "Captain Canada"... so Billy wore an American Tie from then on, and beat the dude's ass on Donkey Kong. LOL ROCK STAR SHIT

Thanks LyonsArcade for all that info about what really happened . I heard a few things about how they edited the movie , but never read exactly what they did . I've never met Billy , but he seems like the nicest guy and if you were his personal friend and were in trouble , he'd totally help you out in anyway he could .

I was there when they filmed , hiding in the shadows and corners where no one would see me , with my "Billy Mitchell is #1" T-Shirt on . If you look really close in some scenes you might spot me .

They all had scripts and would rehearse for hours on end . Usually the night would end with pizza , beer and all of them singing Kumbaya together , which would usually bring me to tears .

In the movie, which is a documentary (LOL) the whole point is Steve is trying to beat Billy's score, and Billy won't play him.

Billy in fact DID play him, and in fact wasn't even world champion.

Doesn't that illustrate to you that the movie, a 'documentary', is fiction?

Admit that, then we'll move onto the next point.

And you haven't even covered all of the major B.S.

Tell them about the staged phone calls showing Steve leaving messages for Billy.

What about Steve really pulling a fast one and lying about his DK PCB after Roy Shildt was discovered as his benefactor.

Or Steve's refusal to follow simple requests that were aimed at getting his scores verified.

Don't forget the lies concerning the garage break in, which didn't happen.

That bottom line is that Bill was "putting on a show" when the cameras were rolling, but he didn't expect that the movie makers would do what they did.

The only thing I would have liked to see in the Film would have been to see the Sportsmanship which the Director withheld if it was included it would have still been a good movie.
Other than that I look forward to meeting everyone at the Kong Off 2

Very cool video! Worth a watch, even if you aren't into the whole drama thing from most of the thread.
