Billy Mitchell on MTV

Im sure most of you guys have seen this, and beings it was taped about 4 years ago, did anything ever become of his "stunt" that was going to "shock" the Video Game world? I never heard of anything, and by the looks of the games he was playing at the end, Im sure it wasnt the Million Point DK Game? The Missile Command cab was noteworthy beings there is hatred between he and Roy Shildt, but did anyone ever hear of what he planned on doing and what game it pertained to? Too bad Brian Kuh wasnt in this piece, heh.

Joe

He probably planned on cutting his hair but later found out that it was unbreakable due to his superior DNA.

I always thought his perfect game of Pac-Man just meant that he completed the 256 screens. But did he seriously get every fruit along the way too?

At what level do they consider the ghosts/monsters uneatable?

edit: Nevermind, found the answer (17th level, but the 18th level they are eatable, then 19th+ no mas).

If I had to guess, I would imagine the big thing he mentions would be to set records on all the games he is moving in there, and send the tapes out to Twin Galaxies when he is finished. I can see that hitting the news.

This is exactly what I thought. He would just video tape every record game and have an archive so he can bust one out anytime someone tries to beat him. WHATEVER!

Hate him, or like him, the mans gots skillz. He comes off very errogant, but the dude can play. It has somewhat gone to his head I think.

:. But me...NO! After numerous calls and e-mails to Twin Galaxies and having actually spoken with Walter, I still have'nt even been given an address to send score/game tapes! It's no wonder some of these scoring records have stood for years and years.

Seriously Bri? They won't even give you the address to send tapes to?

And this isn't posted on their website?

How To Submit A Score?
You must first search for the game title on which you wish to submit a score. To do this, you go to the "Search Scores" page and use the search score tool. After you find your game and see the current scores on that game, you can email your score to the appropriate platform editor (listed below at the bottom of this page) and ask them if there are any special requirements you must meet in order to verify your score.

You Must Ask For A Submission Form
When you submit a score to the scoreboard, you must submit your information on an official submission form that you receive from your platform editor. When you receive this form via email, you can print it out and send it to your platform editor by your local Postal Service. Twin Galaxies will not accept electronic submissions, but only hard-copy evidence that cannot be falsified by computer software.

I guess you are at that point...

Don't forget they have to get though that 48 hour nibbler tape set before they even get to the home console stuff.

Seriously. I have been consulting with Walter over the phone. I want to make sure I have everything just right before I play a lengthy game on Missile Command or Battlezone. It's been over three weeks since he called me. That time I was cut off because he had to take another call. So then I sent an e-mail with pics of my MC PCBs and a reminder to get a hold of me. He mailed back and said he would get back to me. I realize he's busy with a regular job but there has to be a better way to submit scores. And before that it was like a month and a half before he replied to my first phone message. Anyway...Walter seems nice and everything but, like I said, there has got to be a better way.
[EDIT] Yeah, it says in the guidelines they would like anyone who wants to submit scores to contact them ahead of time. So...that's where I'm at.

This is such a bummer! I am more and more disenchanted with them all the time. I met Walter Day at CAX this year. He seemed very nice, but yeah that's just kind of ridiculous.

Anyone see the Southpark last night??? It was a spoof on King of Kong but they weren't going for the dk high score WR.

Yea, I saw that, too. I'm glad it wasn't just me who saw the shades of King of Kong in there

!

I think the funniest part was that the gals in the episode kept saying that they just didn't get it which was exactly what my wife was telling me as I was laughing my a$$ off...

The best way to get a score up is to go to an event and do it in front of a TG ref.

The rub, of course, being that the TG refs are all buddies who'll verify each others scores but try tracking one down to watch you play...

You don't need mark to prove that to you.. just watch KoK.. even if it's got a lot of crazy editing going on some things are just undeniable. Cronyism within the TG world is pretty darned obvious.
