Do bill acceptors or ticket dispensors require a separate power supply? I found what appears to be such a thing in the pedestal of a showcase cab I picked up. No acceptor, just the power supply thing in the bottom. These worth anything?

Anytime I have seen a DBA or ticket dispenser it has never had its own power supply. They always run off the game's power supply.

Most ticket dispensers operate on the game's own +12 volt DC power supply.

Bill acceptors on the other hand (and depending upon make/model too) operate on a number of different voltages:

120 VAC

24 VAC

36 VDC

24 VDC

12 VDC

I've only seen a few DBA's but all of them just tapped into a 120v source. I'd guess you either have a unique power supply that puts out an uncommon voltage or amperage or someone just added a second supply for no reason. Or perhaps this is a failed power supply that got left in the game? Have you measured the voltage on it?

I'm not thinking it's a PS any more... a PS wouldn't have the cabling this has... I am thinking it's a logic unit for a ticket dispenser perhaps? Or a bill changer? Or?

Pretty elaborate casing if that's what it really is. Usually something like that is just a small board with dips, a chip or two, maybe a few caps & diodes. Hopefully someone here isnt stumped by this.
