Before I go on, if you're looking to get an okay looking machine, or don't really care about condition of your arcade games, don't bother reading on.

I have a fully restored Neo Geo big red MVS4 slot. I bought this a few years back from the restorer. Side art and all parts have been totally redone. Looks like it is brand new. I replaced the joysticks with Sanwa bat tops, as these play much better, but still look like a US cab's sticks. I replaced the monitor with a brand new Wells Gardner 24.8 standard res one (this is the very last standard res monitor they made). The picture is perfect and beautiful. The marquees light up like day one, as they have been totally replaced (these never work when you buy big reds). Comes with a 4 slot mobo that I have done a total audio cap kit replacement. Why? MVS mobos, after all these years, start having flaky audio. Not this one.

Comes with four games: Bust a Move 2, Mark of the Wolves, KOF98 and Metal Slug 3.

I'm asking $950 for it. I've invested MUCH more than that into this, but I feel that this is still fair, considering you're getting a perfect machine with four nice games and a brand new monitor. Every one of these being sold needs some board work, or just plain isn't in near as good shape as this one. No scratches, no imperfections. Perfect machine.

The ONLY thing I changed was the stupid smoked glass. After replacing the monitor, it was just too stupid to cover it up with dark glass.

Location near Chicago.

After taking pics, I want to nit pick my own product.

I noticed a small crack on the Neo geo marquee (you will see it in pics). Didn't notice this until I took my pictures. Also, you will see where the t-molding looks like it isn't flush with the cab. Finally, a few screws don't match up styles on the newly replaced metal corner protectors. So, I will reduce it to 900. It really looks much better in person, but nevertheless the pics show off what I didn't see. So... :(

Anyhow, that's being anal. Without further ado, pics:

I can get pics of the monitor, but I mean it when I say, it's perfect. It's only had a very very short life, and it's been spent entirely in this machine.

That is an amazing looking cab. My only concern would be the bare spots around the edges, where the T-molding meets the sides. Not sure if those are just reflections from the molding or missed spots

Ok, sorry to jump on your FS thread but that looks great. Where did you get the artwork? I just picked one up that needs some TLC?

The restorer before me did this. No idea. He did all the art, marquee, cpo, painted the cab black, put on all the coin doors and decals. Even did the corners on the bottoms. It IS nice, but this work is beyond me. So, I can't give you any info.

I bought this for about 50 less than I'm selling now without the 4 games (a 300 dollar value), fixed audio section, and... oh yeah... the $400 NEW monitor. ;)

That isn't bare wood on the sides, that's the T-molding not meeting the sides as well as it should. If I really wanted to be an anal jerk, I could take off the t-molding and do it over again. Maybe hot glue it in this time. But, that was like that when I got it, and didn't bother fixing that aspect.

So, it's the t-molding that isn't flush in the corners. Semi easy to fix, but it never bothered me enough to fix it (and I'm no stranger to putting on new t-molding).

EDIT: One more thing I want to stress: the marquee lights WORK. They WORK BRIGHTLY!!! You haven't seen this since about... oh... 1993. ;)

Looking at that guy I will echo, definitely worth the cash. Hell, that is pretty much worth the 900$ without the games, and the games he is including are some good (and a few expensive) games.

If you are looking for a neo that doesnt need work, definitely grab this sucker. It does look amazing. Now to get mine to look about the same (at least my mini-marquee lights work as well, but that right there cost me 100$ to fix*grin*).

amazing to see.

I agree, its well worth the price. A guy I previously bought a slightly smaller Big Red from has his which is identical for sale for $400 on Craigslist, and its in nowhere near as nice of shape. John's is a great buy for sure. Free bump!

For those asking "what's the lowest I'll go," I would sell the machine for 700, but keep the four carts. So.... yeah, if you are a guy that already has games, I'll offer this as a solution. :)

Gorgeous machine. If I didn't have a nice Big Red myself I'd be all over this. LMK if you sell the games separate as I am in the market for Bust A Move Again.

I'll tell ya, I was about to be all over this since I told my g/f that once I find one of these we'll get married. :D And then I did a search of where Rockford was. And my heart sank. :(

Anyways.....Free Bump.

NICE Red cab, JR. For those who don't know: It's a MVS25-4, ver. 3 cab. (MVS board-25 inch monitor [corner-to-corner]-4 Slot MVS Board.) And it's probabbly the most popular 4 Slot Red cab SNK/NEOGEO sold in the US. Man, I played a lot of KOF 97, SSIV, and BAM on a V3 cab. Great cab. Fans love the speaker set up--how it blasts the sound out over the crowd. :)

Mag, you're making me sad. There must be a BIG shortage of NICE RED and BLUE cabs in MICH. You alwyas seem so close; yet so far away. Hope you find your cab. some day. :)

Luck was smiling on me when I found my Minty Big Blue only 200 miles away. Now I hope that same luck works its magic some time soon in finding a Big Red.

Glad you found your BIG BLUE, Mag. Those cabs are NICE! :)

Man, I hope your 200 miles was round trip. 200 mi is a long drive. Just to get from Los Angeles to San Diego (the border), I have to drive about 120 miles, for about 2 hrs & 30 minutes. And if I kept going for another 2 hours and 80 miles, then I'd endup somewhere in ENSENADA (MEXICO). :D

I believe it was 400 miles round trip, but since most of the travel was on the freeway, it wasn't that long of one. What got me the most was I offered him $400 for it and he accepted, but I had to wait a whole week before I could go down and get it since he said he was busy during the week. All I could think about was someone else offering him more for it and selling it behind my back. But that didn't happen. And after seeing this guy's house and the cars in his garage, he wasn't hurting for money. :D

(Free Bump)

I'm glad to hear your seller was cool and you came back with the cab. That would have majorly sucked if you had driven all that way down to the guys house and then he pulled some CL BS and had to drive back empty handed.

Heh, while I was reading your post, I imagined Lenno's garage. So what did his place look like? See any neat cars? And what game was in the cab?

If I could sell my project one I would buy this right away. John sells good shit. When he started picking it apart like the monitor he sold me I laughed. That monitor runs still like a champ. Ironically its in my big red project.

I'm not sure what cars he had in his garage since it was last fall when I got it. I do remember a porche though. And he lived in a suburb which I'm very glad I had a GPS system since his house looked just like the other 100 houses in the area around him.

Btw John, if you ever find yourself coming to Michigan, bring the game with ya and I'll buy it off ya. I hate driving through Chicago. :D
