I just picked up a Big Event Golf in a Ms pacman Cabinet, I can see the ms pacman burn in the screen so i know the monitor is from the original set up, my question is what are the odds that the wireing harness dosen't need to be changed to get it back to ms pacman. After doing some research it seams that the big event golf is by Taito and used the same harness as jungle king and other taito games.

I am waiting for my ms. pacman pcb to come but I was just wondering if any knew if I would need a different harness.

Thanks for any info you have.

well depending on the harness, you wouldn't need to change it necessarily. There are adapters out there.

you ought to shoot a picture of the harness' edge connector.

someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in to tell you if an adapter will do at that point.

I will have to get a pic of the connector tomorrow and post it. For all i know there is already an adaptor on it. lol, guess I should have looked before I asked.

Thanks for the info tho.

Took some snaps with cell, what do you guys think?

Definitey not the same connector at all. Although, you can probably use the switching power supply that would have been installed during the conversion. Pac/Ms. Pac doesn't normally use one as it runs off of low AC voltages but you can wire it up with a switcher.

Might be easier to find an original harness. They pop up from time to time and people usually dont ask much for them. Edge connectors are known for problems though so keep that in mind.

Either way if you go with a switcher you will have to mod the PCB. its easy to do, but the downfall is once you mod it, you can only use a switcher with that PCB.

With the info I have, I will be looking for a replacement harness. If any one has one, please let me know. I have a friend looking to see if he has one but he doesn't think that he does.

cool was that the cheapy on ebay with the bucky o hare? both for like 80 bucks or something? I wanted to buy the parts of the bucky o harte, lemme know if you have any use for them if thats the same auction. thanks

Yep, they are the from that auction. I picked the up on Sunday. As of now I am going to get the monitor repaired so my boys can play the bucky o'hare, they love that game.

I am hoping to get the Big Event Golf back to a working Ms Pacman and then do a restore of the cabinet in the future sometime. Of course I am still working on getting a DK back to working so I can restore it later too but that was complete empty.

Either way if you go with a switcher you will have to mod the PCB. its easy to do, but the downfall is once you mod it, you can only use a switcher with that PCB.

Why would you modify the PCB? You can just run 5VDC to where the 7VAC goes and 12VDC to where the 14VAC goes. You may have to crank the switcher up a little to get 5VDC to the chips but it works fine. My Ms. Pac has been going strong for 8 years that way. No mod to the PCB was needed.
