We've got a Big Choice claw machine with the small three relay board. Anyway, it crapped the bed the other day and I have been working on it. No loose wires, relays all engaging properly, switches seem to be working. The wire was jammed and I think it burned out one of the motors in the claw assembly it wanted to spit ball here a little.

Near the end of the day yesterday I got everything to work on it but the right motor going in reverse. You could start a game from first position, move down, move over and claw would drop, but it would not come back up once it engaged switches. However, I could manually press the other switch and it'd clamp the claw so coil works and return to rest position with claw dangling. So, claw goes down but won't come back up. That switch on the claw up down works fine with Dmm test and no loose wires that I can tell. Is there anything else I should look for for a motor not reversing the claw back up? Thermal fuse is good and all other fuses good too. Thanks in advance!

These things are always a pain to work on but the motor is probably fine if it's working one way but not the other, I believe they just reverse the voltage to make it go back the other way.

Also the motors likely all run on the same voltage, what I'd try is check out the relays and see if they're the same part number, if they are swap them and see if the problem follows the relay. Sometimes those relays (especially the ones that switch high voltages like the 40 volts or whatever the motors are running on) will get pitted or dirty contacts.

You can also test the relays by taking the plastic cover off with a screwdriver or something, then checking for continuity between the points that are touching, and then also after you pull the relay in (like on an EM relay). I've had a bunch that didn't make electrical connection that you can fix by cleaning the contacts.

When it drops the claw, does it completely unwind the string, or does it leave some on the spool?

Worked on it some more today. Swapped relays and same issues. I can get it to do everything right but come up and go left. I've looked all over and can't see any loose wires, but wonder if I have either a dead switch or loose wire somewhere. Anyone with a Big choice able to post some close ups of the motor assembly and wires to those limit switches?
