Big Cap Question...

How old are they? Because old electrolytic caps degrade (less on the shelf than in service, but they still degrade). If they are more than a few years old, I wouldn't use them in anything you want to keep.

Lytics can actually degrade faster in new unused state sitting on a shelf than with regular use. CAps that are used often keep the dielectric layer formed and ready for the next time it sees voltage across it. When unused, the dielectric degrades. And if left long enough, the part will never perform as originally spec'd.
