Hi,

I know this has been discussed on several threads but I am hoping this situation does not mean I need to purchase another MoBo........

Purchased a very clean Biostar MCP6P M2+ (attached) from a 100% rated seller on e-bay and it arrived in perfect condition, all caps in very good physical condition and no corrosion anywhere on the board.

This was purchased as it is listed in the Parts Listing (attached) showing that this MoBo should work in this application.

I am using this MoBo in a rebuilt computer case, new power supply, new BIOS battery, new CD-ROM in my Safari cab that I was previously running World (in a different computer).

I loaded the PRO software (ver 1.25) and the set up procedure works great, pull the install disk out and and it keeps giving me to the "Connect I/O PCB" failure screen (attached). I know this I/O PCB works as it plays perfect with my World computer.

So I thought maybe I needed a newer version of game, so I loaded Safari (ver 01.02.22) onto the drive, worked great, removed the disk and got the "Connect I/O PCB" failure screen (attached).

I checked just to be sure and I have the +5vdc and also +12vdc on the filter PCB (attached).

So onto the Set-up......

Checked the BIOS to make sure the Serial Port is set correctly as specified: Com1 (3F8) and THERE IS NO SERIAL PORT LISTED!!!!! (attached). Now I know there is a serial port as the cable is connected to it!

I contacted the seller and he did respond but was not helpful: "I really don't know how to help you, I don't use a serial port on any motherboard."

I tried all this with the correct Dongles attached to the rear USB ports.

So one last attempt, tried loading World onto the computer and part way through the installation, first disk, I get a new error: "Installation Failed - Please try re-imaging the drive". (attached)

I made a quick video showing exactly where this error occurred:

.......can this indicate in some way the problem with this MoBo?? It was not cheap and hard to find, I would want to have to find another....

Still strange as there is no Serial Port listed in the BIOS even though there is the physical connection at the rear of the computer, is there a jumper somewhere that enables this device??

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Jeff

I thought it might have something to do with my use of SSD's but I had been running that Pro with a SSD until failed....

Worse case I'll have to purchase another MoBo but before I do I really would like to get some answers on why there is no Serial device info in the BIOS, could it be that is was not shipped with that feature from the factory? Doesn't sound right unless the purchaser specifically requested that? Maybe a BIOS update would re-install the missing Serial Port??

Would anyone happen to have a good BIOS image for the Biostar MCP6P M2+ MoBo?

I would like to figure this out as this is an "approved" computer that did not work with Big Buck Hunter - although it should.......

I have used in the past the GeForce 6100 AM2 and the Dell Optiplex 740 with good results.

I tried the Dell Optiplex 755 and got the game to load and it does not give me any errors but it gets to a certain point when it should display that small "X" in the middle of the screen but then instead of that it just keeps going back to the "Loading" screen over and over again......

You said new battery, did you clear the cmos? By moving it's jumper to reset/clear the cmos?

And just to document this in case someone else gets this bright idea.....

I tried to sub a ASRock N68C-GS FX for the specified ASRock N68S-GS FX and it was no bueno.........
