BIG BANG BAR Pinball - Assembly Line Pictures (Start to Finish)

Several people have asked me for these recently so I decided to just post them on my website.

These are the IPB (Illinois Pinball) reproduction BBB pins. I was going to IPB every few weeks and took a lot of pictures. Here are about 300 pictures of the 800 that I have.

Pretty sweet to see!

What did these cost when they had them out?

I paid $4500 for mine. In 2006 I thought that was a lot of money for a new in the box game. At the time my dealer cost for a new Stern pin was $3200. I believe my dealer cost for the new Stern LE pin is around $6500.

Dang, 4500$ is pretty good. I figured they were more around the 7k mark, but guess that just goes to show how people getting back into the market these days have really skewed views of prices.

Gene should stop being a stubborn butt and make more. He claims he won't do it in order to protect the value of the ones that were made already....I don't understand why he cares. When you make a product, its aftermarket value is none of your concern...he gets nothing from people flipping it for $15k. It was never a numbered limited edition. Look what new games are selling for now. Build more, sell them for $8k...he'll sell tons ...if any previous buyers cry about it...WAH, your $4500 game is still worth more than you paid. Suck it up, fuckers. :)

Ya everyone says build more but I think they used up all the board sets and made what they could.

Gene told all the BBB owners that he would make a set amount of games (approx 200) and that would be it. I totally respect that.

His next project is Kingpin (also a rare Capcom game). Gene would like to make a run of Kingpin next. Kingpin is an easier game to reproduce than BBB. There is a few issues that need to be addressed. BBB was built with all original Capcom NOS boardsets. The reason Gene ran approx 200 BBB is that was his limit on Capcom CPU boards that he had in-stock. For Kingpin he has enough original driver boards, sound boards, etc but the CPU boards needs to be reproduced. Some of the stuff on the CPU board is NLA and Capcom made a few different revisions of the CPU board and not all of them work in Kingpin.

I spoke to Mark Ritchie (game designer of Kingpin). He said that Gene did contact him about reproducing Kingpin. Mark told me that Kingpin is done and that part of his life is over and he really does not want the game to be made (reproduced).

Cost? Kingpin will NOT be a $4500 game like BBB. Gene lost a lot of money making BBB, approx $2000-$3000 per game. The target price of Kingpin is about $8k. If you want one contact IPB (illinoispinball.com) and get on their list. Limit (2) two per customer.

That's odd - I know it was a long time ago for him...but I would think that a creator of a game that was never made would be excited to see his game finally produced. Why doesn't he want it to be made?

I've been on the list for a while now...a few years? I lost track...it was $7000 when I signed up...I guess that price is up in the air? I had sorta lost interest....but now with the price of everyone elses new games, I might be interested in Kingpin again lol

I am pretty sure I read an interview with Mark, or it may have been a Topcast, where it was mentioned that he rather not talk about or re-live his time at Capcom, so that may be the reason why he doesn't want to work on Kingpin...

#1 - I know Mark is not exactly in love with Gene and that is the nice way of saying it.

#2 - Maybe he just wants to move forward and not live in the past with a dated design.
