Documentation of a 19 in one jam pcb change to a jrok pcb.The presence of a multi directional stick with thrust attached made defender and Stargate unplayable on the 19 in one pcb. Adding an up down stick made them playable A Jam harness was present in 19 in one multi and half of the wiring was the same as the jrok. The 12 volt wires that powered speaker in 19 in one are removed. A breadboard jumper wire was used to get to pin 14 (service)crude but effective. Coin door buttons were put back to to get to the menus etc. The tiny 4 pin molex that comes with the stargate to pcb adapter will be needed because invisible ,coin 3 and hi score reset buttons bypass the jam and connect direct to the jrok..I got a wrinkle on my home made plywood c p o overlay so Im redoing it and have a multi williams plexiglass ordered . I think I'm done with defender williams stuff and can move on now to an asteroids deluxe or tempest now .

Just in case this helps someone in the future, the button map in the jrok menu is set to standard and robotron player 2 stick . Robotron sticks needed no rewiring some button wires needed rearranging .All the original boards , bezel and leaf switches were removed when it was converted to beyond games. As usual not allot of constructive criticism occurring in my thread , whatever , coin door can be fixed later when I get another for parts

JUSTABOUTDONE1.jpgIs this what a Multi Williams should look like ?No up down stck ? Fail

I believe this was for a Defender control panel, but you could do it similar to this with (1) 2-way joystick and (2) 8-way joysticks
On the one you have pictured, the reverse button is further away from the left joystick, which can be difficult

I'm kinda down with the Robogate in your later pics, I can appreciate it. I definitely can live without those led strips and prefer a CRT, but it looks pretty clean and the sides look to be in unusually good condition (is that original paint)? Did you repaint the black front also?

And yes that last pic you posted of the every game graphics MW, yeah, that's too much. I like it best when they resemble an original cabinet even if it plays more games and has a different CP.

I totally agree , the Multi Williams marquee and c p o are super busy .This cabinet is in good shape ,, levelers intact and yes it has the front repainted and bottom rot and scrapes are minimal . I went with the robotron cosmetics in front because it already had the marquee and the c p o has fewer holes to fill for multi customization . The addition of the blue color does go outside the 3 color interior decorating code I suggest but don't impose on my clients , I do understand that the addition of the forth color can throw some people off, but because the games and art are from the same era family , it works for me ascetically. I would prefer a crt i , but no iso transformer in this one , and I think she's going to a friends air b n b for a few months so Im keeping her running on parts I won't worry about breaking as much .

You're a monster
yes , its fun to Frankenstein these games for me . I need to get out of the house and go to the laboratory where I can make a mess and away from the wife . Thank God it's raining today and hopefully the wildfire in Greenwood lake is under control as its a little close to home base for me .

Is this the first robogate? When I started this I was thinking surely someone else had done this before . I should have thought the KLOV authentic renovation crowd would not accept this . some say Halfbreed some say hybrid , some say why , others why not .

I'm with you. And I remember there were two different versions of that MW CPO. One from Phoenix, and one from Arcade shop. I think I liked the Phoenix one but hated the Arcade Shop one. And I never liked the multi-marquee marquee. It just looks busier than Fritz's beaver at a well-hung damn builders convention. For my own, I went mostly stealth. Original marquee, joust themed multi panel, Joust stencils. (The bezel was changed to an original glass Joust one later).

When I built one for a friend's daughter, I took a few more liberties (she loved the 4" pink joysticks), but I kept the cabinet and marquee original.

I guess for me picking 1 Williams game theme and sticking with it seems to work best for these multi Williams games. The sticking point is always the controls. How far do you go? Do you turn off a few games or do you try to keep every game on the menu playable? How many options should you add per panel? Should you have swappable panels with different controls? Should you go the simple route? It's always a tough choice and there's always compromises that have to be made when doing any multi.

I love your swappable panels for that cabaret .My only sticking point is the up down reverse needed for defender and stargate. Usually on the multiwilliams that's not there. The beyond pcb had thrust on stick one left and right , and a thrust button , making the quick turn to kill a close mutant impossible . Ive seen the bit where Eugene said he would of preferred a multidirectional stick for defender , but not even that makes it rite. We have all been trained like riding a bike. The guy I got the robogate from said his favorite game was stargate but that multidirectional ruined it for him so he just used it for robotron. Most defender junkies use closer to the palm not the tips of the fingers and prefer the defender c p o because there is more room on top of the buttons for your hand than the stargate design. For 8 bit amusements defender and robotron are very fast , liquid chaos ,it's hard to explain how they feel quicker and the player moves around more freely than the other 8 and 16 bit games that came after and they are hard enough to play when all the buttons work correctly. I haven't tried the phoenix pcb yet . Anyone doing a multiwilliams should consider what games they like most . I removed Mario from this robogate because its against my religion .

Yeah, my Stargate cabaret multi Williams was probably my favorite. And yes, I loved having the swappable panels with the 2-way U/D stick on one and the 4 inch Wicos on the other.

Thanks to arcade art shop in the UK for the best bezel I have now , groovy game gear buttons easily swapped around the microswitches.
