I'm looking for some decent 8 way joysticks. (something a little better than the $10 cheapies you see on shme-bay. I hear a lot about the Seimitsu joysticks. This will go into a cab with a metal control panel, replacing some worn out 8 ways that were on a SFII cab.

What do you suggest? The Seimitsu any good, or is that just all hype?

Beware of the Japanese sticks unless you have used them and like them. You will either love them or hate them. Personally, I do not like the feel of them. They feel quite different than the sticks I was brought up on.

You can't go wrong with a Happ Comp stick (square actuator) or a Happ Super (circular restrictor).

Personally, a Wico 8-way spring centered microswitch controller is my favorite of the micro based joys.

The Happ Competition was the gold standard for years... however they have changed lately. They used to be just rebadged iL Eurojoysticks - but now they are making them elsewhere (China, I do believe). You can still get the Eurojoystick - Lizard Lick sells them. Still great quality.

Happ competition sticks is the way to go. IL are better though I'm okay with the Happ ones. The japanese sticks are okay but they have a longer throw and are not as stiff. Seimitsu are stiffer than Sanwas and the square restrictor that both of them come with can throw off your game a bit if you grew up on Happs.

Happs will also last you longer than any of the Japanese sticks.

Cool, that's good advice. And thanks for the input. I'll purchase some Happ competition sticks then. I was kind of wondering about the Sanwa and I thought it might be weird with the ball style though.

But as others have said. I grew up with Happ style so I'd better stick with it. Too late in the game of life to change joystick styles anyway. :D

Are those Happ 360 joysticks worth a squirt of horse piss?

Though a search I see that some Klov users like them and others do not? What do you think.

The old 360's were good, these new happ ones have to be adjusted to work properly most of the time. It's easiest to stick with the Comps. There's a bunch of discussions about the Perfect 360's over at Shoryuken.com. They're not worth the higher price imo. They're also not as sturdy as a competition stick.

I've got Happ 360's in my JROK Multi-WMS. When I got the board I jacked Robotron up to skill level 10. With the Happ Comps that I had on the game in the first place I could just get to 1,000,000 points. After I installed the 360's my first game was over 2,000,000 points.

I think the 360's are very good joysticks.

They are when they are dialed in right. There has been a lot of reports about the led diodes in them having to be adjusted to get them to register movement properly. I can't say if this has been corrected or not but it was an issue a year ago.

Good to know. Thanks.
