I have seen a lot of different answers on these topics:

Coin Door
-My existing games seem to have multiple grounds going to each terminal at the coin door (including the lamps). Reading Bob Robert's site, he only has one ground for his coin door bundle, (using the 12V for the lamps), and I'm guessing he is using a daisy chain ground to each terminal. Is this not the best route for wiring a coin door?

Lit Buttons
-Referring to Bob's site again, he bundles 2 grounds for player 1 bundle and 1 ground for player 2. To add lit buttons, he uses a splice from the coin door 12V but no mention to where the ground comes from. Is it best to use the extra ground from the player 1 bundle for lit buttons? I hear a lot of people connect lamps directly from the power supply. Is this really the best way?

Thanks in advance.

If you are using a switcher, then the grounds are all the same. They can all be daisy-chained between switches and lights. if you are using a transformer with AC for the lights, then you'll want a center-tap ground for the lights, and a DC ground for the switches.

And if you are doing all new wiring, then running a line from the switcher to the lights for power is fine. Make sure you use the voltage that is proper for your bulbs. +12v won't be right if you have 6.3v bulbs (use +5 then).

If I am using an older cab (like a Pac-Man) that already has a transformer on the bottom that powers the coin door lights, I just leave it hooked up that way and they work just fine....

Thanks again Mod. Yes, I'm using a switcher so I'll do as Bob says. And, I will be using 12V bulbs to make them nice and bright.

Thanks!
