I have a WG D9800 that's homeless and without a cab at the moment. I really love this monitor and want to store it while I find it a new home. Whats the best way to store it without damaging it? Currently it's sitting in my garage on top of a table naked and exposed to the world!!!!

On a shelf out of the way.

Use this as an excuse to get yourself a project cabinet to stick it in there... while you are at it, you might as well restore the cabinet... Sooner or later you are going to find a project cabinet for cheap, so you might as well face the inevitable...

That's how I usually store monitors... ;)

preferrably in a monitor box!

I actually store mine in my garages attic.. sounds crazy but theyre much safer up there
( if i dont neck them taking them up and down)

Well that's another problem I'm trying to resolve. Ok should I just put a thin plastic sheet over it to protect it as well?

I usually try to put them against a wall, somewhere with something behind it, and the tube facing out. That way, if you kick it or something, the neck won't be exposed to pop into anything. If you store it with the neck out, you're just asking to run into it. Set it down, and put a low box behind it or something, a can, whatever so that if it gets hit, it still won't push into the wall.

If you put plastic over it, you're 'hiding' it and you'll be more likely to accidentally hit it since you can't see it consciously.

On a shelf or on top of a game are good ideas already mentioned, too.

I shelf mine, Vectorlabs has nice Rolling wire shelfs just the right size for his monitors. It all depends on where you have room.

I've got them on shelves in the garage, shelves in the closest, shelves on my workbench. I've even got some under the work bench, and I'm pretty sure there's one on the kitchen table.

I have an extra room in my house full of parts. I built shelves for mine, just strictly for monitors and tubes. I had a guy give me about 30 monitors a few years ago, all in various states, so I've been working through them over the years. I'm getting down to the dredges now, but I'm going to tear the shelves down when I get rid of the bad tubes finally.
