I've never used Fed Ex but I'd be curious how they rate with large, typically dimmed out freight such as an arcade game.
Look into NAVL (North American Van Lines) as one option. They have an arcade logistics division and have it pretty streamlined, AND they insure their games too. One freaky thing about NAVL is they don't require a pallet which tends to scare some. I've shipped several games and have not had any problems. I do know some that have had to file claims. In most cases, it's the luck of the draw as all shipping companies or (most) sub contract out to 3rd party freight forwarders. Pray you get someone who handles your game with care..
You're in the right place to ask about shipping.... there are options. This is a long haul but definitely not an impossible one. 90% of the games I've shipped have all been from east coast so it's definitely doable.
Moonwalker huh?! I hope you didn't pay a crazy amount for it....but then if its something you couldn't live without, I'm happy you will be getting it soon.
Oh...as far as prep.... If you go through NAVL, then just have the seller pallet wrap, then cardboard wrap, with pallet wrap on top. Entomb the thing and that's about all that's needed. I've had some games come with hard cardboard corner protectors which can be cool I guess. Some choose to use the plastic corrugated sign material instead of cardboard but that may be more to ask from a seller.
