The shafts are probably worn with a groove. If that's the case, you need new ones. Misght as well get bearings and be done with it for another 20+ years. I have a set of rollers and 4 of the five bearings needed. I also have a spare new glossy ball. I'd sell for a decent price to be rid of it all.

what is it,cocktail,upright?

i have 2 cocktails,1 fully working,1 just needs some monitor adjustments and a board that works.i just wet and dried my balls,i actualy bought white replacements and removed them as they popped out with the blackness of the cps.

gotta agree with the comment about the rollers though, they end up wearing in the middle as well as getting rusty and the bearings also get rusty and tend to seize to the point the ball wont even roll, all my cocktail trakballs were this way,new bearings, rollers and wet and ried balls and they work sweet.realy messy they was, hair you name it was inside them.
:)

Dave at RAM sells a new ball, and I'd buy that rather than spend a bunch of time polishing a rough one. With all the wear and tear of not peoples' hands, but the metal of the shafts and bearings, think of it like the wear of sandpaper on the ball. It would take a lot of polishing to make it very smooth and shiny again. I used Novus 2 and a ton of rubbing to clean up a couple of them for a Football once, but for a game that would be home use only from here on out, I'd get a new ball.

thanks its an uprite its dirty from time forgotten in a ware house but it worked when pluged in. the board, powersupply and moniter look clean its a go7 so it wil be an easy fix when it goes thanks and could you post a link to the site you were talking about thanks.
