I just picked up an empty Joust cab last week. No boards, marquee or bezel, but it does have a K4900 with very little burn and a generic cp. Best of all, the original side art is all there, in pretty good shape. I'd like to restore it back to a dedicated Joust, or maybe a multi-Williams. I want to preserve the original side art, but it is "weather cracking" (for lack of a better description) - the paint is cracking in a vertical pattern on both sides. Aside from re-stencilling, what's the best way to clean this up? I thought maybe lightly going over the sides with steel wool, then touching up the really bad spots with some color matched paint, and finally shooting the whole cab with a clear coat. Anyone ever do anything like this? Here's a crappy cell phone pic to kinda show what I'm describing...
