My four slot works well but sometimes it takes a little effort to get all four cartridges to be happy. I'll have to reinsert the carts many times before they all jive.

Is there a recommended way to clean the contacts on the slots? I thought about spraying some electrical contact cleaner in there. Good idea? Bad?

I use a toothbrush and a mix of alcohol & plain water to clean edge connectors on game systems and arcades. I can't imagine a Neo-Geo connector being any different.

You need to clean the cartridges AND the slots.

The easiest way is to take the cartridge apart and clean the edge connectors with a pink pencil eraser.

For the slots, I'd recommend cleaning with an electronics cleaner and toothbrush. DO NOT USE ANY CLEANER THAT HAS LUBRICANTS IN IT.

As mentioned, http://www.hardmvs.com has cleaning instructions.

It could be possible that it's not the connectors, but your cart configurations.

4 slots can be rather picky... Certain carts won't work with other carts in certain orders.

You have to really move them around to find a combination that works.

I once had a service man tell me to jiggle and blow, I have no idea why that came to mind, just sharing......

interesting! I finally get stuff to work when I move carts around. Hmmmm.....

There are some posts about that in the Tech Support area over on the neo-geo.com forums.

If you have to wiggle the cart to get it to work then you need to clean the slots and the carts.

blow it all out, then use this stuff.. its frickin magic in a can i swear...
