Hi guys, just picked up a Pac-Man yesterday, seems to be in decent shape, but I'm assuming the house it was stored in used a fireplace for heat, cause there seems to be black soot maybe all over it? Im just wondering if there is a good non abrasive cleaner that can help do the trick without pulling the paint off the cab. Other than the dark spots, the artwork is in pretty decent shape for a cab built in 80 and I'd like to salvage it. Also, the CPO is in really good shape, but also super dirty. Any tips on cleaning it up as well? Thanks a ton! -Jason

I'd probably start with soap and water and work my way up to something like
goo gone...(NOT goof off!). After that I'd probably use the magic eraser. It should work wonders on the cpo. You can also use it on the sides of the cab but I believe you want to be careful as it is slightly abrasive and will remove a little paint. Not likely to remove enough where it will effect to look of the art but it's good to know what your working with as I'm sure over scrubbing could cause visible damage.

Could be mildew, I would hirer the neightbors kids to clean it then you don't have to worry about the chemicals.

simple green solution first and then goo gone for the tough stuff. Magic eraser works awesome on CPOs but not stenciled side art!

Simple Green really is some good stuff, amazing all the goop it will take off. Also works great for buttons.

simple green I agree..

they also make a soot remover... buy it at Tractor supply or anyplace w/ fireplace supplies, etc.. its a spray

but I suspect it is petroleum based... so be careful and as the bottle says.. "test in a hidden spot first"?

to clean a cab I always use good ol soap and water and a soft sponge and elbow grease
best results still

I like this method:

I love Simple Green also.... BUT, BE CAREFUL!

give automotive polishing compound a try.. takes some elbow grease, but at least you don't have to pay for that ;0
