Best way to clean carridge contacts?

Best is a pink eraser or white art eraser. After that I use Deoxit D5 with a qtip before I play it to clean both the system and cart at the same time by inserting the cart 5 times before powering it on.

I have no idea what the hell rubbing alcohol is supposed to achieve, you need to remove the oxide not sterilise it. Personally I use brasso polishing wool, followed by PCB cleaner on a paper towel, works a treat.

I never understood that either. A lot of people still think it's best, maybe from the NES days when no one really knew anything.

Are the contacts plated? If so, anything abrasive is a no-no, and you'll end up having to clean them often after the first time.

Open the cart... pull the boards out... and scrub the edge connectors with a big pink or white pencil eraser.

Just be sure to get rid of all the eraser dust before plugging the carts back into the game board.
