After doing some research on my sparking anode cup I suspect that with the rain that we been having the past few days, moisture has made its way into the anode. I discharge the monitor and pulled of the cup and its pretty grimy. Is there a good solution to clean the cup and around the hole?

I use Goof Off on black and white vector monitor anodes, which are caked up with dried up grease. The stuff dissolves pretty much anything.

You need to be careful with it though, as it will melt some plastics. I've never had a problem with the anode cups I've cleaned, though.

It works well if you use it with Q-tips, to get into nooks and crannies.

Is it true that alcohol is adequate for cleaning these cups and around the hole?
