Due to family situation I need to get out of this hobby and sell off everything. What is the best way to do this?

I have thought of a few ways but would like to know the opinions of others. I came up with:
1) post the lot on here as-is and hope someone with a big truck would come by and take it all.
2) Spend some time polishing everything up and inventorying everything, then post it as one lot.
3) Take everything as pieces and post the single lots here and eBay.
4) Have a Saturday driveway sale here and sell it in single lots.

I am in Bremerton, Wa and have something like 14 cabinets (7 working, 2 needing adjustments, 2 needing assembly, the rest are projects), several 19 & 25in monitors including a NIB 19 in vision Pro, extra board sets, a-pacs, oti-pacs, avga cards, zvg card, and the usual assortment of extra marquees, control panels, buttons and the like.

Please let me know your thoughts.

List each machine with pics and individual prices first, then below that, offer it all as a lot for one price, which should reflect some sorta discount over the total of the prices added up for each individually. Even if you sell one or 2 individually, you can keep readjusting the lot list and price as it changes and dwindles.

Is your goal maximizing your profits or just getting everything moved out?

I also live in Bremerton, are you a member of SMAC?

How quickly you can unload your games really depends on what they are. The popular classics seem to be in demand in the Seattle area but if most of what you have is Jamma era and fairly common cabinets then you'll have a hard time finding someone to take them all. Many of the local collectors consider Bremerton to be too far away for anything short of their grails. Selling it as a lot may be very difficult if the collection is eclectic. I know I would not be able to sell my collection as a lot since I have too much variety for anyone sane.

All of that being said, I think advertising as a lot on SMAC and KLOV may be your quickest bet if you don't want to deal with craigslist flakes. Many SMAC members are not KLOV members and a few KLOV members are not yet registered with SMAC.

If you sell it piece by piece, you'll make more. But it's more work.

Group it and sell it that way, and you'll take a bath on it. Just depends on how quickly you need the stuff moved.

That said, I'm looking for an arcadevga card, pci-e style :D

I am not a member of SMAC.

Most of the games are JAMMA except I do have RoadBlasters, OP Wolf, a 48in1, MAME, and a Star Wars cab with color vector monitor that I was converting to ZVG ( no SW wiring harness).

On the scale of Moving them out quickly to Making a lot of money, I am more towards Moving them out quickly as one lot. I am afraid of being "cherry picked" and then having a bunch of empty cabs to get rid of.

Turn on the bath water. The vultures shall begin to descend shortly....

I haven't looked at your collection but there are a couple of Jamma things I''m looking for if you were closer

Have a arcade yard sale. Put adds up here, craigslist and any where else you can think of. Selling as a hole lot does not seem to happen very fast. Try contacting a dealer on here and see if they might want to make a deal on all of them.

I would like one part out of one of your working machines....then in a few days decide that I want the rest of the cab but offer you less because its incomplete...;)

I was afraid you might say that. Unfortunately we had a guy recently try to unload his games/parts and he had a hard time finding a buyer. Of course, the winds of change are always blowing so you may have better luck. I say cl/ebay the lot and you may get lucky enough to find someone looking to build a route or jump into a larger pre-built collection.

List them on eBay with a slightly high BIN or best offer.
You'll make much more than selling here and they sell reasonably quick. Make sure to take nice pictures of the machine on and working.

Is the monitor in the Star Wars an Amplifone? If so, it's the most valuable thing you have.

If you have items that you believe wouldn't sell individually then those same items probably wouldn't add much value to a lot. They might even detract from the value of the lot since a buyer would be forced to take them in order to get the other items he actually wants.

If you want to start making money, I'd sell individually unless you're prepared to sell the lot for far less than it's worth.

Thanks everyone for your ideas. I think that I am going with Phetishboy's idea of listing everything with values and then give a discount for buying the whole lot. This will take me a while to get everything organized and I really want to give the opportunity for a lot purchase before I start individual part sales.

So in a week or so look for a posting in the For Sale section. In the mean time you can watch as I build the picture list at http://s228.beta.photobucket.com/user/fa001/library/cabinets
