i know this has been discussed before,im going to order some wax. what do my fellow klov'ers recommend? thank you.

just go down to local auto parts store
and get anything that has carnuba in it
and preferably only carnuba in it

Mother's or Meguiar's Pure Carnauba Hard Paste Wax in a can, like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Mothers-05550...2V1O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1296428553&sr=8-2

You want the wax only; avoid anything that says "Cleaner" or "Polisher" wax. That has abrasives.

Wipe it on, let it dry hard and buff it out. 2-3 coats is good.

Your balls will fly like the wind.

Or something.

Seriously, a freshly waxed playfield with new white rubber and it plays like a mad b*stard.

cool thanks for the advise. so im guessing no to milwax? no one here has recommended it.

what's his name swears by cleaning the playfield with millwax
but
i dont understand why you would want to clean a playfield with something that has a wax in it
but
it sure does look factory new when its done
and
im not sure if his method looks better than mine or not

either way we both wax the PF with carnuba after cleaning

So is it ok to wax a diamonplated play field? Ive asked others and had contradicting answers...

I'm pretty sure my IJ and Corvette owners manuals state not to use Milwax on the playfields.
I have never heard of pure carnuba wax doing any damage to a diamond plate playfield. Quite the contrary. Playfields without wax get dull, dirty and worn.

Dang it! I just bought this:

I saw that it has petroleum distillates in the ingredients and thought, man that can't be good for the playfield!!! ...

My personal experience with Millwax is - it's terrible. Sadly a local OP friend of mine swears by it. Every pin I've either purchased from him or helped him shop out is just a grubby nasty ass mess. He waxes his tables every two weeks, uses white rubber and yellow post rubber so there's no reason why the PF should be THAT dirty but they are. I personally use either Novus 2 or my Treasure Cove kit compound and finish off with 2 coats of mothers caranuba wax.

Keep in mind using black rubbers is just a flat out terrible idea because the action is slower and the black rubber dust makes a freaking mess of things.

whatever, it dries and then you rub it off with a sham wow !

i was lucky and they were having a dollar sale on some no brand car wax and just look at the ingredients. "Carnuba" is all you want

Wait, so the cleaner part doesn't matter? I thought the petrolium distillates are abrasive..

From what i just read everyone said it has to be pure carnuaba??. Maybe i will try on a small part of the playfield that you can't see first.

At the pinball hall of fame they use a liquid carnauba in a bottle. I have been trying to think of the name ever since. It's Carnaub-a or something like that. The guys there were really big on it. I saw the results and they were very nice.

Now I remember, it's called Carnu-b. I don't recall it ever being discussed here, but it's the wax the PHF uses on their machines and they swear by it.

i always thought you used the millwax on the playfield as a cleaner and wax and that it was made for painted wood

and that novus cleaner was ONLY for plastics? (and it works great)

i have found and use a great "CLEANER" wax for cleaning scuffs off of the cabinets. its called BUFF 'N WIPE and its made by TRANSMATE. and it has NO abrasives in it. we use it on cars at work, you can rub and rub and rub all you want even on black paint and it wont scratch
