I am trying to decide on either Star Hawk or Armor Attack right now. Any good? Which would you choose? What if Cosmic Chasm got thrown in the mix? What are your favorite Vectrex carts?

I wish I could be of some help, but I was stuck playing Dungeons of Daggorath on my TRS-80. I never even heard of the system back then.

I am building a wall mounted cabinet for my Vectrex, complete with lighted marquee, but I want to get the best games to put in it. Not interested in a muticart unless I can collect all the overlays that go with each game on the cart.

I loved Star Hawk back in the day and I still play it a lot out of nostalgia, but it is definitely not for everyone's tastes, very dull game.
Armor Attack is fantastic ....... providing you have the overlay. It is doable without but in my opinion, the overlay makes it.
Cosmic Chasm is good, really indepth but not one I am particularly fond of.

If we're sticking to originals and not homebrews, I would say Space Wars not only for historical signficance but it's also the best home version, I think. Also, Bedlam's good, Rip-Off (another historically important one), Star Trek is a lot of fun to play, and I think Star Castle is a fantastic recreation of the coin-op.

Minestorm is so far the best Asteroids-esque game that the Vectrex can run smoothly. Don't get me wrong, lots of people have attempted a proper recreation of classic Asteroids but most that I have played suffer from slow down when there's too many rocks onscreen. Minestorm has a good workaround with the way it is designed.

Now if you want to talk homebrews, I could make a huge list!

True, having the actual Space Wars cabinet in your home is the best version (short of owning a PDP), but not everyone can be so lucky.
Pole Position is alright I suppose. The homebrew Vectrace does the same concept better in my opinion. Kind of like playing the old Demon Driver by Tomy.

(Anyone know an iPhone equivalent of this classic toy???)

I recommend you have a look at these reviews for inspiration, but I don't agree with a lot of the scores he gives the games. He's far too harsh on Star Hawk and Vectrace if you ask me. A lot of the others are pretty close to my opinion though.

Armor Attack is excellent, one of the best for the Vectrex. Pole Position and Berzerk are also surprisingly good. Minestorm is a worthy Asteroids style game and offers a great challenge after the first 6 levels.

Star Hawk is okay but nowhere near as good as Armor Attack.
