Playing some Big Guns tonight and got to thinking about how much I like it's skill shot. I like really like how once you commit to the try you can't count on the ball rolling back down to the plunger and it's in play no matter what. I also liked the shots on RBION and Cyclone as well, so what pins do you folks like the skill shot on? Not necessarily talking about the hardest, just fun and challenging to keep you going for it.

Although pretty far down on my list of favorite machines, I've always liked the corkscrew skill shot in Pinball Magic where you have to launch the ball just hard enough to reach the top of the corkscrew and have it fall out into the top hat.

Oh yeah, trust me, Big Guns isn't on my keep list
A free pin that I'm planning on sinking $120 or so on a pinscore into then it's off to pasture (the route) :D

A couple jets and some drop targets would have made it a pretty fun game too, shame.

I think Who?Dunnit has one of the best skill shots in pinball. There's a lot going on in that game. First, you time the ball shooting out of the lane at a target that moves - you get a reward if you hit the target when it's lit. Alternatively, you can stop the cycle and make the target light not move, or you can opt for the "super skill shot" and shoot the ball into a tiny opening for even greater rewards.

Pinbot.

Requires finesse yet doesn't feel "limp-wristed."
Just feels good.

All i can say is that joy goes right out the damn window when those super long leafs dont want to cooperate. Ive been trying to get mine properly adjusted for weeks. Frustrating to overshoot the 100k watch it drain down the top, then get the lowest score from the bottom lol.

Wheel of Fortune's is very cool...very precise - very rarely will you get it, but it feels like SKILL when you do, that's for sure!

Havent played that one, what's the shot?

You have to plunge it 'lightly' enough that it doubles back and rolls through the gate in the upper right corner.

Kinda similar to Twilight Zone with the ball having to roll back. Love that the skill shot on TZ is also incorporated into one of the door panel modes.

Maybe I'm biased since I own one, but Dirty Harry's two selectable skill shots are pretty awesome. You can pick the the ramp shot where the ball is plunged down the shooter lane, the magnet in the PF grabs stand drops it down to the upper right flipper for a chance at shooting the left ramp. The other choice is using the PF gun to shoot the left ramp.

Its a lot harder to pull off then TZ skill shot because the loop is at the top of the playfield and you only get one shot at it. If you're short in TZ it will roll back to the plunger, not so on WOF.

Yeah, WOF is a hard one.
I like the flipper to right orbit shot in LOTR. You only have a few seconds to make it. If you fail the live catch, you probably won't have enough time.

Lamest are probably IM and MM. Its like, why bother.

Elvis is cool cuz it's got a 3 (maybe more?) skill shots.

-Lanes: Standard skill shot, get it in the flashing lane up top...if you get it in the flashing lane without changing it yourself, you get more points (Hands Free Skill Shot)

-Drops: Plunge lightly, catch, and aim and hit the drop target with the moving/flashing insert

-Secret: Hold the left flipper button when launching, the ball will go around the inner loop and get stopped by the magnet....hit the inner loop for the Secret Skill Shot!

Big Guns has 6 drop targets, what am I missing?? :)

Greg only mentioned the first part of the skill shot. Once you actually make that short loop, you have 3 seconds to get the ball into the solve puzzle scoop to complete it. It is a fantastic skill shot and really tough especially because of the countdown timer being thrown in your face after you are just excited to get it started in the first place. Add to the fact that the scoop shot likes to bounce out without some foam deadener in the back of it, and it is really tough....

Seconded.

I also really like the skill shot in Twister, where you have to launch the ball just right so that it rolls across the magna disc and gets grabbed. Pretty tricky, that.
