Buy a pair of Rush the Rocks, just got one, very fun game and prices are reasonable..you wont be dissapointed..
The first is San Francisco Rush, you could upgrade it to "Rush the Rock".
Then came Rush 2049, you can upgrade it to the SE version
All 4 of them are good games. San Francisco Rush though has a strange driver board for the wheel that's very expensive to fix, and also the tubes in a lot of those cabinets are going bad.
Rush 2049 is newer, cheaper to work on, and has more stuff going on. Personally I like it better than the originals. It's a bit more expensive, though.
I'm with you. My goal is to have 2 Sit down Rush 2049 machines linked with the SE chips for a few more tracks and cars, but it depends on your budget. I've seen rush / rush acatraz pairs go for under $1k and 2049 for more than $1k each (typical on the east coast)
Even though:
2049 SE > 2049 > Rush the Rock > Original Rush
ANY Rush > Most Other racing games out there.

My personal vote is Rush, but if you're looking to link a pair I can tell you that California Speed gets more love from guests.
