I have a friend of mine that I finally talked into buying some games. What a good friend huh? Kinda like introducing crack to someone. If you know what I mean. Anyways, he was wanting to get a game that is shooting related. The only one's I have played are older one's like Cheyenne, Crossbow & Operation Wolf. What are some of the newer ones that have good game play and don't get old quick? Area 51 or Police Trainer?

I think the best games which don't get too boring too fast, are shooters that don't follow a storyline or set level order. Shooters like crackshot, wild guns, etc are good for replay value becuase you're not trying to beat the game, rather show off your aim and skill.

Newer shooters that seem to be hold value and get good replay would probably be the Buck Hunter series.

I just got a maximum force, I will let ya know in a couple days what I think of it haha, im waiting on my guns.

I really like Area 51/max force, you can find the duo on ebay or buy the double board area 51 and upgrade it yourself. I hear people get bored of these easily though.

I don't know many gun games that are long, Pointblank and zero point are some cool target games, a little funner than police trainer.

You can get a couple if the cabinet is jamma, thats what I am doing, I picked up adapter harnesses for the guns and hope to have a few games with 1 set of guns.

Theres also carnevil and crypt killers which take a shotgun.

Zombie raid is pretty long and the cabinet is awesome, 2 mounted pump shotguns.

Time crisis is always fun, and crisis zone is nuts if you get the big showcase haha.

House of the dead is a classic, I played that a lot.

Wild Guns? I couldn't find that on KLOV's list. Info?

I haven't played any of the "newer" gun games but for me it was the Operation Wolf series sans part 3, HORRIBLE!!!!

I always had fun playing Beast Busters; I guess its really not new though(1990). Huge game, too. Not sure if it would fit thru the average home's door.

I was on the hunt for an Area 51/Max Force for two years and finally found one in an Area 51 cab like I wanted. What I like about these two is that the difficulty changes dynamically as you play. Get on a streak? The game gets harder and harder which makes it more rewarding when you keep it going.

I also owned Lethal Enforcers which was fun but doesn't change in difficulty like Area 51 does. You can swap pcb's in cabs too if you get bored.

Point Blank is also a great great game. I own it for Playstation and played it do death. 2 players is a blast.

Time Crisis is hands down my favorite shooter series. Can't beat that foot pedal action and recoil gun.

lol you can put the recoil gun on anything now with happs kit, but be prepared to shell out like 300 for the 2 guns and the rest haha

Also got to give props to "Space Gun". Kind of interesting gameplay, and of course two people can play. Very cool if you like the movie "Aliens"

I'd say the Point Blank type of games is the best for replay value. The Konami Lethal Enforcers games is probably the lowest maintence and cheapest to obtain though, they just use jamma PCBs and guns that plus right into the jamma board.

Definitely the Point Blank games. Very challenging, and a good diversity of minigames and difficulty levels, so they have good replay value.

I always liked Time Crisis, and House of the Dead seems pretty popular. They'd probably get a bit old once you've finished them though.

Ok, my turn.
Many good picks here so here are my +1s. First, Zombie Raid is my favorite shooter of all time. Second favorite is the sit down Jurassic Park. Its great since you can usually pick it up at auction for a song and a dance. Then, I think Space Gun is my next favorite. I also recall enjoying the SNK shooters like Mechanized Attack, and Beast Busters I and II.
But considering that your friend isn't exactly an arcade collector, his best choices would be T2, Revolution X, or Jurassic Park I or III. Those are games that have great licensing tie ins and are pretty fun to boot. Although, it may be hard to find a good T2 or Revolution X as the usually got played pretty heavily. T2 is interesting because it added to the Terninator story line since part of the game goes into the future so you can fight Skynet. Revolution X=Aerosmith. Very cool if your a fan of the music.
Of course, if your friend is made of money, the best shooter I have ever played is Aliens: Extinction. That is the coolest, hardest, funnest one I know of. Although, Zombie raid is still my favorite.

Black Matrix wrote a great post, the one big question is how much space does your friend have? All of those cabinets are huge because of the mounted guns. I highly suggest zombie raid if you have the room. If not find a cheap jamma cabinet with like lethal enforcers and swap in the area/max duo and others like police trainer and zero point 2.

what are you meaning by that? there all jamma, and happ sells gun adapters for them. Lethal enforcers uses the happ guns as is, max force/area 51 use the adapter, and they sell an adapter for point blank and zero point
