Best router bit for cutting particle board from overlapped patterns? The patterns themselves are 3/4" thick. Will the same bit work for plywood? Thanks.

So you mean for clamping a "pattern board" behind the particle board you want to cut and then following the pattern? I use a 1/2" diam x 1" long router bit I got from Rockler (#90836) with a matching 1/2" bearing on the end. Does an equally good job on both plywood and particle board. Believe I used medium to medium-high speed on this. With the small diameter bit, you can run higher RPMs and it cuts nice.

Laying the pattern board on top and clamping or screwing the 2 together.

The bit I mentioned only works if the pattern is on the bottom since the following bearing is on the end. However, Rockler also makes it with the following bearing on the shaft. Have not personally tried that one, but suspect it would work for you:

I think the smaller cutting heads tend to give a nicer finish than the larger ones. Thus, I would probably go with the 1/2" diam on the 1/4" shaft. If you have a Rockler store by you, I would stop by and ask them. Their sales folks typically know their stuff.
