PLEDGE.

No joke. Specifically the Pledge Clean + Dust with Citrus can. I've been using other cleaners, plexiglass wipes, disinfectant wipes, and on and on. This stuff reigns supreme. Now, it doesn't clear any existing scratches, but this stuff wipes out everything. Works great on my CPO's and my Bezels.

Sprays on thick, then gets slightly mucky when it begins to wipe. However once you rub it in and wipe it with a dry towel, it is spotless!

The best part is it leaves a nice silky feel to the plexi overlays that I love. Smells awesome too.

Anyone else use this cheap, everyday product for the same purpose or am I now an arcade heathen?

It's funny you mentioned it but I actually tried pledge this weekend. I used a micro fiber cloth to wipe it off after it made my plexi all sludgy. I don't know if it was the micro fiber cloth or the Pledge that did it, but it came out very nice.

Yeah, I was real worried as I first started to wipe down some plexi last week with this stuff. When it started smearing the sludge around, I was thinking, "oh great. Well atleast plexi is cheap to replace." Then I saw it and felt how silky fresh and brand new it felt and was sold.

I haven't tried Pledge, but I have used rubbing alcohol to take those !#$%^% SuperAuction stickers off plexi. That adhesive they use laughs at just about everything that won't damage the plexi.

I am still trying to find a new source for some monitor cleaner I got as part of a "mystery box" operator buy. He had two of these small green spray cans in the bottom of the box. The first was almost gone but it got me hooked. It is an antistatic CRT cleaner and it cuts through the funk on monitors like nothing I have ever seen. And they stay clean. Since I've never seen this stuff in stores (and the cans are at least 20 years old), I'm assuming that it is highly carcinagenic or at least mutagenic. But it works great. Beats Windex with a stick.

Pledge does have a bit of wax in it. That being said, the wax will fill in minuscule scratches in plexi. A good thing.

Thanks for the tip!

Sounds kinda like trichloethylene or something.
Which has been banned here in the states.

Man card revoked, that's brutal! Now do we have to do all our restores in the kitchen?

Hi Billy Mays here for Gozer Wipes, the fastest way to make your plexi-glass silky smooth, and yet has a lubricating taste even your kids will love!!!!

How bout a pic(s) of the cleaner that your talking about. JUST so that I'm sure.

Just because I couldn't tell if you're joking or not. See attached.

Yes, the same stuff that everyone's mother uses to clean the endtables. ;)

Yes, I was 100% serious. It was the clean and dust plus citrus that was throwing me off. I grew up on lemon fresh pledge in a yellow and woodgrain can. But considering how these cleaners have branched out to electronics, and disinfectants,..., I just wanted to see a pic of the can to know what to look for at the store.

On a side note, IIRC, Fantastic use to kick ass on Control panel overlays. Or was it Formula 409. Either way it started with an F and would get almost all the dirt off and leave the CP bright and shiny. Maybe someone else remembers for sure.

Believe it or not its actually good for auto interiors, too. I have a '67 Mustang and it has a black vinyl interior. When I had it reupholstered, the shop guy told me to NEVER use armour-all or any amour-all type product on it-ever! Apparently it contributes to rotting the threads in the upholstery and you can guess the rest. I've used it for nearly 30 years on all my cars interiors and have had zero problems. Guess I'll have to buy a few more cans for my vids.

why not just use novus #1? Everytime I use that the plastic feels very smooth and it is made for plastics.

This is almost as bad as people that put armor all on their atari's because it makes them "shiny"... (do a search on atariage, there are 10 page threads about this)
