I have a few hundred EPROMs here that I'd love to get in tubes and I also use the tubes for shipping... sadly, I'm down to my last couple of pieces of tube.

I need to order a few more, but the websites that I've come across are so vague as to what chips will go in the tubes... they don't mention how wide they are or anything like that. I just want to make sure that I don't order 20 tubes, expecting .6, and getting .3 and just wasting my money.

Anyone have any quick links to some places that sell good, CHEAP, tubes?

I've thrown away hundreds of IC tubes after posting them for free and having nobody willing to pay shipping....

Had I seen the posts, I'd've been all over them Mark.

I'll keep my ear to the track... next time you start another project I'll check for the FS posts about tubes. ;)

Sadly, the guy I order my chips from doesn't use tubes... so I don't get to build up any spares, and I get the joy of spending a few days straightening pins... ...

Buy sockets in bulk. They come in tubes.

Raz of cps2shock ships his Neo Geo Bios upgrades in Ramada matchboxes.

He takes out some of the matches and puts the chips in there nicely.

They always come perfect. All the way from finland.

If you've got the Jameco catalog, I am pretty sure I found some in there. I can't find them on the Jameco site (their search engine is about the only one worse than the KLOV site...:D).

ken

BTW: Thanks, while looking for your stupid tubes, I spent $50 on parts....:(

... if any of them come in tubes... ... just saying. lol

Haha! Once again paper > internet. Jameco part# 29516 - 300 mil tube. 25 cents each.

BTW, the search term would be "anti static".

But you want 600mil. So call Jameco (800.831.4242) tell them you want the wider version of part# 29516. Something that will fit a 27c256 EPROM.

You can find them at Newark. Search for IC storage tube.

I think they are actually listed in the jameco catalog but they are .3" wide. Not sure if they carry .6" ones.
I would gladly pay shipping if someone posts some free .6" tubes. Most of my eproms are already in tubes but I do have a thousand or so that are not. Unfortunatly I also missed Marks post when he had them up for grabs.

Yeah, I checked out the site, and looked at the .pdf catalog page. It those EPROMs in the tube in the picture, but the text description clearly states that it's for the little guys.

BUT, the price'ng matches up to another site I've been looking at. The site I have doesn't really mention the length of the tubes, so I was worried about getting little 3" pieces. http://www.elexp.com/ics_icst.htm. The second guys down should be the right tubes... I guess I'll have to order a few and see though... still not crazy about the price, but seriously... even I can't complain about a few extra cents. I just can't imagine actually doing a minimum order with these guys ($20!!).

Did someone mention IC tubes....Just pay shipping and they're yours....Most are .6 and .3....maybe a stray .4.
