I've been putting a list together of things I want for my arcade. We are putting offers in on houses and I want to try to sneak in some of my wants in the budget. If I can find a decent price on carpet I might be able to get it put in before we move in. What are the best places to find this stuff, am I better off looking local or buying it off line? I know shipping would be expensive so I'm not sure what to expect. I've also seen the UV reactive chips that are added to paint that would give a similar effect without the price. If I can't swing the carpet I'll most likely do that, my main goal is to have a very UV reactive environment in my game room. If anyone has any more info on the UV flakes for the paint please post up links or whatever so I can look into that as well.

do a search on arcade carpet, we just did it again a few months ago and compared pricing...I bought a pretty decent size roll from Astro, they and the place back east was dealing, doubt many people are buying carpet in this economy.

For me its either going to be some sort of epoxy paint, with blacklight reactive accents and clear on top, or blacklight room size rugs. Finished carpet is nice, but a bad idea from what ive seen friends go through. With a rug, should shit hit the fan, simply rroll it up and clean it or toss it. with epoxy, its just mop up and back to fun..

Yeah, I had that thought too. I'd be worried about some rat ass kid wrecking my carpet, I've got a few inconsiderate kids floating around who would spill red coolaid and not clean it up. I'll see if I can find the reactive flakes somewhere and just plan on painting it. I could do black floor paint with the flakes, that would look good.

I would try to find a pattern you like first, since that will dictate your options for getting it installed. After that you can always contact the manufacturer to find local dealers who can order and install. I personally went with Joy Carpets since I liked the Shockwave pattern I saw in a few gamerooms.

I second Astro mills. Great service and shipping was much less than I expected. I can get you the name of the lady I worked with if that helps.

Give www.kidcarpet.com a try, as well. Unfortunately, it looks like their selection of blacklight carpet has gone down. The pattern I ordered a year ago is no longer there. It might be worth giving them a call, though, to verify that the website shows everything that they have.

www.joycarpets.com is another manufacturer of blacklight carpet. I don't know if you can buy directly from them, but if you do a 'blacklight carpet' or 'fluorescent carpet' google search- you'll see a lot of places offer the Joy carpet.

That's the exact carpet I really wanted and I'm blown away that Wal-Mart has it! Thanks for the tips, I'll hopefully be able to find it for a decent price.

I found it at this site for a bit cheaper but just my luck, they charge tax in California only so I'll have to order it somewhere else. Anyone else outside CA wants a good deal on Shockwave carpet here's the link: http://www.woodentoddlertoys.com/shbyjoyca1.html
