Best pinball coffee table book

I have the second and third Pinball Compendium books. From a coffee table perspective, they are great since they have a photo and description of every machine made during a year.

All those previously mentioned are good books. I have this at my desk as I type :) :

The Complete Pinball Book by Marco Rossignoli.

The Encyclopedia of Pinball by Richard Bueschel.
This book gives you history about each pin featured in the book as well as little known facts like the founder of Williams (as in a Williams pinball) invented the plum bob tilt. I had a woody from the 40s and the book told me the reason behind the game design of my pin was to incorporate a current fad. It went on to say that the target market of locations was at a Walgreens Drug Store.

Thanks for the heads up! I was not aware that it was being re-released. $38 is a lot more reasonable than $200 for the OOP version.

All the Compendia are great books. Good mix of pictures and info--you can peruse it or read it, or both. My favorite is the 2nd volume (1970-1981), which has most of the later EMs that I grew up with, along with the early SS games. Rossignoli's Complete Pinball Book is also great for these same reasons.

A little help on the Compendiums?

My Varkon is in one of the Compendium books. Could someone who owns volumes 2 and 3 let me know which one it is? I need to get it as well.

SO I got the pinball compendium today. Its a very nice book. Well done, good pictures etc.

It has tons of interviews, tidbits etc from all of the 'players' in the pinball world.

Here's what it doesnt seem to have...

Stats. I love stats. How many were made. What the sales figures were, how much did it cost etc etc etc.

With that said, anyone recommend a book that has all that type of data?

Again, I am very happy with PC, it is a very very nice addition!

If you're into EM stuff, check out Pinball Portfolio by Harry McKeown (sp). It's oversized and full of pictures, although I like Roger Sharpe's book better.

If you want stats, just buy the pinball price guide. Not so good for pics, but lots of boring stats.

Stats like how many were produced, how much they originally sold for etc?

I just received "The Complete Pinball Book" and although not what I was looking for, its certainly interesting and well done...As is "The Pinball Compendium"
