I need to repaint the front of the spy hunter cab...just wanted to know what Black paint is the best to use...I will be rolling it on....any type of specific roller to use? Thanks!

I use oil-based Rustoleum 'Semi Gloss' Black, though others swear by Rustoleum 'Satin' Black. A small 4" white foam 'very fine' roller will work the best. That's how I painted the front of my Moon Patrol:

phetishboy that came out fantastic! i can the difference between the semi gloss and the satin tho, i can see the reflection of your driveway seam with the semi gloss, satin wouldn't do that (nothing bad about the reflection tho).

The rear door on my Spider-Man cab was painted with semigloss while the front, top and rear were painted with satin (odd to me maybe the rear door was from another machine).

good topic tho, i'll be looking for this info soon.

That being said, if it just doesn't wanna turn out or I get impatient, I will resort to using matte black vinyl (After preparing, priming and painting):

Phet...AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish me restore jobs looked like that!

On the Mario Bros only. On the other 2 cabs it was the textured black from HAPP.

then i like the happ stuff. your application of it is so very clean also!

although the mario looks great also, but that happ textured black is sexy looking.

Phet...Do you have the item # or exact description from Happ for the vinyl...I went on their site and they have a few different types...Thanks!

Guys - i just painted my Tron today (and yesterday). There is a somewhat new paint out there that is SIMPLY fantastic. I am going to end up posting pics in my Tron restore thread - its Ben Moore Advanced brand. I used Satin Black.

I have poor roller skills. I have sprayed before and liked it much better. This time, my guns were all gunked up so i had to roll - decided to try this paint after some research.

Someone please try it / sample it - it lays flat, little to no texture, is oil like in hardness and shine but cleans up like latex. The finish is perhaps the best i have seen on any paint - exactly what i think factory should look like.

Texture? Yes - i see some (but not as bad as others i have used). Roller marks? Yes i have a few (but thats my poor roller skills). BUT the paint is so good, its hard to explain - it makes up for it. My roller job looks better than anything i've done before.

Good luck!
