I am building a Robotron game, pretty much from scratch. What are the best joysticks, closest, or original joysticks? Looking for some input, I would like them to feel like original and work flawlessly.

Thanks

The originals are great obviously . The suzo-happ Perfect 360 joystick is also great provided you swap out the handles for 4" wico handles like I did on my mame setup.

The originals were Wico leaf switch joysticks with 4" red handles. The remaining stock of the 4" red handles has basically dried up but there are still tons of 4" handles out in purple and powder blue. Which is what I have used for my last few machines as the wrong color handles are available for less than $5 brand new from a couple sources while the correct color handles go for more like $30+ used.

Local 413 on here seems to specialize in wico style joysticks. He may have what you want.

I think the proper red 4" repro sticks are still out there. Might need to post a WTB, but I thought the guy who made them last was still selling them. I recommend you find a pair of the repro 4" sticks and a pair of NOS bases with leaf switches.

Here is the thread for the reproduction 4" wico red ball shafts. I bought a pair and they are perfect. He might have some left

I've got some 4/8 way wico leaf bases. They are rebuilt with mainly nos or almost new parts. Usually only the base or top plate are slightly used. Nos leaves, grommet, etc.

Shoot me a pm if your looking for bases.. I've got lots of 3.5" nos wico shafts, just no 4".

I contacted them a little while back, as I was going to buy a few to test out.. Plus wanted to order some leaves. Got a response saying they sold out of them and just hadn't removed the joys from their site. They were almost exact copies of wico made in Korea or china. When competitive products tried to reorder them they were told that the factory had stopped making them and the molds had been thrown away :(

So that's what I know.

Has anyone tried the second one of these sticks listed? http://www.competitiveproducts.com/list.php?id=69

I often wondered why no one has copied the wico stick since it has been the preferred one for so long.
