Hey guys, I was just wanting to dig up a few opinions on the best multi-board to put into my pacman. No, im not ruining my pacman by any means, But, I currently have it in my Bar-Cade, and space is limited, and I want more games than I have space, I want to keep my pac-board intact, but I'd like to have the option of switching out between the two so that my friends have more of a variety and choice when hanging in the barcade. I may end up putting the multi-board in my Gaplus, but Im basically looking to see which one is best for that midway style of cabinet. Thanks for your time! -Jason

You might as well 60-1 it. That way you can have Pac and Ms Pac. Remove the guts and hang onto them. Buy a JAMMA harness, 60-1 pcb and a switching power supply and a pair of these:
http://mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=CPCTSET12

This way all the orginal hardware can be reinstalled at anytime to ensure originality factor.

You can get an adaptor for $35 that lets you play a Jamma board in a Ms Pac cab , http://www.arcadeshop.com/parts.htm#JAMMA

But it says it requires a switcher power supply .

This is for a cocktail I do believe, I have a full size midway cab..but yeah, 60-1 is looking like the way to go. One thing I didnt think about was a trackball...hmmmm

I had cocktail on the brain sorry (waiting for Phet or Jow to "fix" that post)

A trackball is cool and I'd personally do it. Arcadeshop used to sell an upright multi panel with track ball hole - can;t find it now?? Might want to call them.
So 60-1 pcb, 2 1/4" trackball, JAMMA harness and switching power supply

Any recommendations of a place to get a good 60-1? I've looked on ebay, and they seem pretty steep...

I put one of those JAMMA harnesses in my Gaplus cab, had the 48-in-1 going in about 5 minutes. Didn't need to use a switcher or anything. Just unplugged the harness from the Gaplus board, including the 3 pin power cable and 6 pin monitor, and plugged them into the JAMMA cab converter board. I didn't add any buttons or anything though, as I didn't want to modify the cab. If I do, I'll get a spare control panel.

Thats awesome to hear! Im assuming most of the games are playable with the existing control panel? Thanks for your input!

Like others have said a 60-in-1 is best in a Pac (you can use the start buttons for fire/jump)

For my brothers I used the $19 JammaBoards adapter (it even has jumpers to enable the start buttons to work as player buttons)

Here is a post I answered before about it.

Oh also Arcade shop has a replacement CP if you want to use a trackball so you don't hack the original.

...why are we encouraging someone to JAMMAtize a dedicated Midway cab? Sheesh...

Best multi for the PAC hardware is the 96-in-1...

...and if you insist on dropping a 48-in-1/60-in-1 in the cab, just get an adapter from lizardlick.com and you're golden. DO NOT JAMMAtize that dedicated cabinet else the arcade gods will rise up and smite you!

Sheesh people... the guy asked for the best multi for his Pac, not the best way to jack up his Pac...

That's basicly what I said ( 60-in-1) with JammaBoards adapter
I had a 96 in 1 for my brother but replaced it with a 48-in1,
think it much better since there are many classic games not a bunch of PAC clones.
The game is still 100% with the origional pcb and CP, just need to switch the harness between the boards.

I wouldnt use the LL adapter if yolu share the circuit with an appliance that can suddenly draw power. Mine would reset every time the washer or dryer was in use. I've since moved on to a JAMMA Boards adapter with a switcher, works better although I did have to tap in a ground wire to get my CP working with this one. One nice feature with the JAMMA Boards adapter is the jumpers, so you dont have to tap into your start buttons. My cabinet remains unhacked (except for the monitor which is easily replaced) and running on the original wire harness and power brick.

Corrected my Post. I did NOT use the LizardLick, I used the CHEAP JammaBoards adapter, with a computer PowerSupply.

EDIT: I also had a ground issue and had to connect the ControlPanel to a new ground. Thought it was just my brothers machine.

This is apparently one of the menus on the 96 in 1, and for me seeing this, it was like looking through Playboy and then one of the pages having a picture of my grandmother nude. WTF is all this crap? People actually took the time to code these as "fun" games???

Yeah, not looking for several clones of pacman for sure! Which one is the board that has all the classics and you scroll through the screen shots of the games? I like the setup, I just remember hating the music that played in the background haha
