i have a centipede upright with an 19" electrohome monitor that probably needs a cap kit and a crt 19" also. just wondering wich one should i use if i want to build a jamma machine. i am leaning towards using the crt but i have a couple of questions like how to mount it in the upright case. i cant find any information on how to mount a computer monitor in the upright cabinet. also how do you turn it on once its in the cabinet behind the glass since dont you have to turn it on by pushing the power button in the front of the monitor. now to the other side the electrohome monitor just needs a cap kit and how would i connect it to the jamma wire harness. i hope someone has a picture of how and where to connect it because i have no clue. ok if i somehow figure it out how would you connect the power cord to the new power supply that the jamma board uses. i dont know if its even compatible with the old electrohome monitor. would i have to keep the existing old power supply for the old monitor and install a new power supply for the jamma board. i really hope someone can help me out here. also i read something about installing a test switch but they didnt say which or what kind of switch to install. well i ordered my jamma kit so it will be here this week and hopefully by then someone will read this and help me out with these questions. thanks...also i need a cap kit for my electrohome 19" 38-GO794-10 COL GAM MT monitor if anyone knows where i could get one once again thanks...

Your Electrohome G07 will give you the best looking "arcade-style" picture. A computer monitor will work, but you'll have to figure out how to display an arcade picture on a computer monitor unless the JAMMA game you're building has VGA output - or your computer monitor can handle CGA or EGA input frequencies.

Of a more specific note, what JAMMA game are you planning on putting in? Centipede has the monitor mounted vertically, so if you hope for games like Mortal Kombat III or something, you'll need to figure out how to rotate and mount the monitor horizontally.

As for hooking up a JAMMA harness to the monitor, it's actually pretty easy. the JAMMA harness has five video output wires:
Pin
12 - red
N - green
13 - blue
14 - ground
P - sync

The Electrohome has 9 video input pins:

Pin
6 - red
5 - green
4 - blue
3 - ground
2 - positive vertical sync
1 - positive horizontal sync

3 - ground
2 - negative vertical sync
1 - negative horizontal sync

All you have to do is hook up the red, green, and blue to the appropriate pins on the Electrohome, hook up the ground to either of the ground pins, and hook up the sync to both of the negative sync pins...

Time to do some reading just search the web you will find plenty of info. There are plenty of suppliers out there for your cap kit but therealbobroberts.net is your best bet. Good luck and welcome to klov.

its a 60 in 1 pcb jamma and its vertical, thanks for the info but do you know where the electrohome has these pins that im supposed to connect to the jamma wire harness also what about the positive vertical sync do i just leave it alone and not connect it...also what about the power supply do i leave the original power supply for the electrohome monitor and the new power supply for the jamma board or can i connect the electohome monitor to the new power supply

where in tx are you?

You'll use the original isolation transformer wiring to power the monitor, and install a new switching power supply to power your 60-in-1. The monitor needs to have it's power run through the isolation transformer or it won't work. The wiring for it should already be there. Just leave it alone

No, do not connect the positive vertical sync or the positive horizontal sync. Just connect the sync wire from the JAMMA harness to both the negative vertical sync and the negative horizontal sync pins.

As for how you connect it, well - you build a connector. If your Centipede still has all of it's original wiring in it, it'll already have a connector to the monitor. You can just splice the JAMMA wires into that connector, or build a new one. Some places sell a JAMMA harness that has connectors already on it.

Another thing - the Centipede trackball will not work with the 60-in-1. You need to replace it with a newer style trackball to get it to work.

You may want to read this FAQ. It's mostly for the 48-in-1 - the precursor to the 60-in-1, but I think some 60-in-1 stuff was added to it later:

As for where the video input connectors go on the G07, you'll see them circled in red in the picture below. The pins when looking at them in that picture are:

123
123456

Use the pin chart I mentioned above to figure out where the wires go to both the 6-pin connector (red, green, blue, and ground) and the 3-pin connector (the sync wire to both negative sync pins)...

thanks man well im original from el paso but i lived in your neck of the woods austin for a while, still have family there...by the way im a huge longhorn fan so hook em horns...ok last question i hope, so since the old monitor has its own power supply i can use the on and off switch in the lower back of the cabinet to turn it on or off but how do you turn on or off the jamma board? so i will have 2 power plugs that connect into the wall, one for the original power supply for the monitor and one for the new power supply for the jamma board right. well looks like i have all i need now just need to get a cap kit for my Electrohome 38-GO794-10 COL GAM MT monitor and connect everything and hope to god it works thanks to you man...do you know where i could find one specifically for my monitor or should i just buy a new chasis for it since the new chasis is like $45 this way the monitor might last even longer with a new chasis board. well once again thanks man for helping me out if you know where i can get a chasis for my monitor just let me know thanks

You should call your monitor a G07, as that is the model name. You probably need to do a full rebuild kit (flyback and all) which will run you about $38 if you do it yourself, and is probably all you need. No need to buy a completely different chassis that will probably be a Korean universal, or a rebuilt original.

The best place to get the parts (G07 Deluxe Repair Kit) is from Bob Roberts:

www.therealbobroberts.net

You have to e-mail your order then mail him a check, but he ships very fast and is a great guy to order from. He can also sell you a JAMMA harness and switching power supply if you need one.

And you don't have to have a 2nd plug for your power supply. Just tap into the AC already in the cap to power your switching power supply, and it will turn on and off with the cab's power switch. That's the best way. If for some reason you can't figure that out and need to run two plugs out, just plug them both into a surge protector and use that switch to turn everything on and off.

Glad you know which team is good. The reason I asked where you were NOW is - you may need some hands-on help for this, and it helps to have someone local to lend a hand...
