I've never done this before.

Once upon a time I got a 19" crt shipped to me from HAPP, in a box with hard foam inserts.
It arrived fine.

But I no longer have that box, and I've got a 19" CRT someone is interested in buying if I can ship it...

Looking for suggestions, experiences, step-by-step guide... anything.

Thanks!

Steven

1. should have posted this in shipping sub-forum, and
2. somebody asked something similiar just a little bit a go and there were some good answers in there.....

Yeah. The safest way to ship a CRT is don't. The next safest way is to ship it in an arcade cabinet, making sure all the mounts are secure. Not a guarantee, though. I shipped a Lethal Enforcers once and two of the tube mounting brackets broke off of the tube. The tube then swung down and broke its own neck on the inside of the cabinet.

Here's how I received two that were shipped to me.

1) A thin plywood board was cut the size of the bottom of a card board box.
2) The monitor frame was set on top of the plywood board and screwed down into the board.
3) The monitor and plywood board were placed into the bottom of the cardboard box.
4) The box was filled solid with shipping peanuts.

They arrived safely. I think I paid about $50 each for the distance shipped/packed.

Here's how 87 t-66 crated a 19" monitor to ship to me:

Made it safely from Ohio to NJ but I was a nervous wreck waiting for it to get it to my door!

This is the correct way.

Remember to disconnect and secure the neckboard. The extra weight there means a shock is more likely to crack the neck of the tube.

There is no reason to ship it. Everyone would be interested in buying it. So sell it local and avoid the post here where he shows pictures of the broken neck and calls you out, lol!

Did end up selling local. It sat on local FB groups for 2 weeks before posting here.

Someone finally bit.
