Best method to prep new Nintendo cab for TOG vinyl?
Ok, here is the scenario:
I am buying a brand new Nintendo cabinet from OU_Flight to transfer all my DK stuff into. The cabinet will be made of plywood (hopefully a high qual birch ply, but unsure). I plan to apply DK blue TOG vinyl to the cabinet sides and 2 front pieces.
What is the easiest way to prep these pieces to minimize or eliminate the grain from showing through the vinyl? Would guess it would be a few apps of sanding sealer followed by sanded polyurethane. Or a high build/filling type primer followed by polyurethane.
Or perhaps someone else has bought a new plywood cab from DPtwiz and can verify that the plywood is smooth enough to sand and apply?
Keep in mind that adhesion is also of concern on this one as I can only tuck the new vinyl under the molding on top, in front, and a bit on the bottom. Vinyl will be right up to the edge on the back edge and I don't want it peeling up and looking shitty.
Just want to get everything in order up front and have a game plan. I have a few other projects going already and don't want to be caught up with this one for too long.
