best method for getting carbon off of selector sliders?

I have a lot of build-up here that I'd like to remove. EDIT - I got it, contact cleaner.

What's the best method? I tried isopropyl alcohol and q-tips, but it didn't seem to do much. Toothbrush worked a little better.

How about a fiberglass pencil or even an exacto knife to scrape it off faster?

Not sure if I should, since the original color of the tab is a bronze-like color, but if I scrape it a little, it scrapes that finish off along with the carbon right down to a stainless steel color.

Thanks,
Marc

Hello Marc,

I use a pencil rubber (eraser) to clean printed circuit and wiper tracks, if you have opened up the sliders then this method could be used or I have also used tapehead cleaner whilst actively pushing the sliders/buttons.
