I have a Defender cabinet that someone has hacked up the control panel on and drilled new holes, etc. What is the best material to construct a new one with, particle board, 1/2" plywood, fiberglass? I just want something that will drill easy, and get a good smooth surface to apply an new control panel overlay with.

Thanks

I always use particle board. The trick is to soak it in water over night before you do anything! :)

3/4 plywood. Take the old one to a wood shop and they can cut it for you with the angle cut. Usually a cut panel is no more than $5 per panel out of scrap plywood. Usually I have 2 or 3 cut at a time. If you are asking you probably do not have the right saw anyway to do it yourself.

I found a 3/4" pre cut piece of shelving at Home Depot today, looks as if it will work good. What is MDO?
