Best Match Sega Wood Grain Side Art?

Wow, those do look alot different than the pics on the website. In that case, I wonder if WLS9712 or WLS9704 will be close?

Thanks for posting those!

Ok, so I got some woodgrain samples from DesignerWallcoverings.com, one of the few places I could find vinyl woodgrain with a width of 36 inches.

Upright picture (Tac/Scan): TL (WLS-9706), TR (WLS-9717), BR (WLS-9718), BL (WLS-9709). These are a lot darker than they show on their website. As you can see, none of them are really a good match for this particular upright, which lacks any reds (mostly pale yellow and brown).

Table picture (Eliminator 4-player): L (WLS-9706), C (WLS-9709), R (WLS-9718). In this picture, the WLS-9709 is actually fairly close, though I wish the grain pattern was a little more oak-y.

Any suggestions on what to try next? Let me know and I'll order some samples. As for these samples, if anyone wants to borrow them to compare them to a cabinet they have, let me know.

something to consider is that Im sure all of the orginal woodgrain vinyls have faded or discolored, and or yellowed over the years to various degrees

Personally, I'd just go with the one on the right and not worry about it too much:

As far as I know no one has ever documented the exact wood grain used on any of these cabinets. So if comes down to what looks good to you.

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was the best match for three different wood grain cabinets from samples I received from Wilsonart and Formica. I gave up.

I gave up too when all the "research" and finding the perfect match was keeping me from moving forward on my Frogger restore. I realized (for me), it is '80s cheesy woodgrain - it doesn't have to be a perfect match.

I ended up going the 3m contact paper route (I was very skeptical) and it turned out way better than I thought it would. Plus it only cost me about $10 total. :)

Look at the Wilsonart or Formica laminate sites. Pick something very close and use vertical grade (thin) laminate. It will 'look' right and be durable as heck. Only bad thing is ordering it could be a hassle. Might have to find a cabinet shop in your area to order it. Home Depot and Lowes will order laminate, but I can only get them to order standard grade (the countertop/thicker variety).

Unless your a fan of Merle Haggard, velvet Elvis Paintings and live in a single wide, I would say paint it. Woodgrain looks like a batch of hot ass.

wait wait I think we're all missing the point of this conversation....there are people who DONT like velvet Elvis paintings? :p

I did not. I had other projects get in the way. Sorry.

I ordered samples from Wilsonart of laminate and found Nepal Teak to be a
near perfect match to my eliminator cab but it was totally off on the space
fury cab. Either space fury faded quite a bit over the years or they used
multiple wood grains at the factory. I'm thinking Nepal teak is good enough.

Dude, you made my day. That is close enough for me. I'm tired of looking at wood samples online. That looks close enough for me. Besides, what friends are going to be like "Dude, that is totally the wrong woodgrain on your Frogger!!".
